India's minister of defense announced that the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant will be delivered to the Indian Navy in December 2018.
The non-availability of warship grade steel, delayed ordering of propulsion system integration and delay in russian approvals for design and equipment supply are the reasons for the hold back.

India on June 10th 2015 undocked its first indigenously-built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) in the South West of the country. The ship is currently undergoing final outfitting.

The launch of the 37,500-tonnes, 260 metres long and is 60 metres wide vessel was behind schedule by three years. It is expected to start its sea trials in 2016.

Maximum speed of the ship is announced at 28 knots, the ship reported range is 7,500 nautical miles at a speed of 18 knots. INS Vikrant is set to receive a large crew complement composed of 160 officers and 1,400 sailors.

The aircraft carrier will be able to accommodate 30 fighters and helicopters, including Mig-29K fighters and Ka-31 helicopters.

This article is VERY mischievous to put it mildly and is attempting Psy ops.

INS Vikrant will displaces 42000 tons when operational, NOT 37500 tons.

INS Vikrant empty weight is 37,500 tons, which is actually Heavier (and hence larger) than the French Aircraft Carrier Charles-de-Gaulles who's empty weight is 37,000 tons. :azn:

INS Vikrant is 262 meters long, NOT 260. Charles-de-Gaulles is 261 m

INS Vikrant can carry a full load of 36 Fixed win Aircrafts which will be a mix of Mig 29K and LCA ALONG with 10 helicopters. That is a total of 46 Aircrafts, NOT 30.

Charles-de-Gaulles can carry a maximum of 40 which includes THREE large E-2C hawkeye which takes up enough space for 6 Mig 29K.

INS Vikrant has a much larger Flight Deck to store Aircrafts, its 10,000 sq.m . Charles-de-Gaulles has a 7,800-sq.m Flight Deck.

INS Vikrant will have a Maximum speed of 30+ knots and NOT 28 knots. INS Vikrant has 4 General Electric LM2500 which delivers a total of 100.24 MW Shaft Power.

Charles-de-Gaulles has 2 × Alstom steam turbines with a total 61 MW shaft power

However its claimed that Charles-de-Gaulles can go upto 27 knots with 61 MW, yet INS Vikrant can only have a max speed of 28 knots with 100 MW :cheesy:

This kind of Psy ops work because Indians are far to gullible and for most parts ignorant with massive inferiority complex. I hope this is a wake up call for all those who doubt Indian capabilities. From AC to Nuclear Submarine.
