He is still under investigation. Basically he is under judicial custody, that's why he can make bail.

There are two kinds of remands judicial and police. You will be remanded to judicial custody and this means you will be taken to a district or city jail. The difference between jailed and remanded is that people are jailed after they have been found guilty. This automatically implies that you are innocent. Don?t feel humiliated or dejected. There is nothing to be ashamed off. You are just being put through the process of the Indian criminal justice system.

According to the Indian Penal Code, Reddy is still innocent because he's only charged. He is yet to be sentenced. And he can leave jail if he pays bail amount. So basically he has been remanded.

Plus Reddy left BJP long ago. He formed his own party called BSR Congress after he fell out of favour, and now he is left without one. So he is playing with both Congress and BJP, both regional leaders attended his daughter's wedding. He wants to reenter politics under BJP because Modi is so powerful.

And no, nobody outside a few people around Modi knew about the demonetization. A huge chunk of Reddy's money is parked outside India in dollars, even yuans I bet, because his biggest beneficiaries were the Chinese. Foreign govts have refused to cooperate with the investigations.

His political affiliations have nothing to do with the fact that he spent peanuts by his standards on a wedding.
