Featured India's ancient caste system is ruining lives in the Sillicon Valley, US

.
Somebody inform via Twitter to that duffer Kangana Ranaut and her pesky sister Rangoli that caste system is alive and kicking.

Why dont the dalits unite and fight for freedom?

There is a recent Dalit group called Bhim Army ( "Bhim" referring to Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar - co-founder of the Constitution and himself a Dalit ) that fights against upper caste oppression.

Bit when I say modi belong to that caste , I can be factually incorrect, but certainly not abusive.

Modi belongs to the oil presser community which doesn't seem to be among the Dalits.

A person can have their own believes but facts are not personal. An article which raises a seemingly incredible story has to first evaluated on facts and facts alone. Any reporting that twists the facts, is unreliable.

There are so many factual mistakes in this article that it looks like a hit job to deliberately help in a particular lawsuit abroad :

It may seem bizarre that the caste system, a centuries-old system that organises and stratifies human society,
Caste system is not centuries, its thousands of years old. How can someone make such a mistake while reporting on caste?

It has illuminated how the Indian caste system has terrorised one of the most marginalised groups in India.
Remember this line... it will come useful later. (Reference A)

John Doe was a Dalit and only got into the engineering school because of affirmative action, which India implemented in 1980 under the then-Prime Minister VP Singh.
First, Indian affirmative action program dates back to 1950 and has always been a permanent fixture of Indian constitution. First massive factual mistake.

Second, VP Singh was Indian prime minister from 1989 to 1990 and NOT 1980.

Third Dalit ALWAYS had reservation in free India since 1950. The people who got reservation were NOT Dalits in 1990 under VP Singh. They were OBC, who got reservation according to Mandal commission report. Infact many OBCs were actually once part of upper castes and held significant properties and social clout.

Now if John Doe was indeed benifitted by OBC reservation he was not "one of the most marginalised" as the article calls him.

"Doe was expected to accept a caste hierarchy within the workplace where Doe held the lowest status within the team and, as a result, received less pay, fewer opportunities, and other inferior terms and conditions of employment because of his religion, ancestry, national origin/ethnicity, and race/colour."
Looks like a statement written specifically by a lawyer. How come Doe was discriminated on Caste and AT THE SAME TIME discriminated on "religion", "race" and "national origin/ethnicity"? This is NOT a reporting, this is yellow reporting. For some reason, it seems that the reporter WANTS this case to be linked with Article VII. This is not reporting, this is passing judgement.

Soon after, John Doe found himself demoted from his lead role on two projects. The lawsuit says that for two years, Iyer waged a sustained onslaught against John Doe's career. He isolated him, didn't give him any bonuses, and thwarted any chances for promotion.
We don't know John's immigration status in USA but if he faced discrimination, the first thing anyone does is to change his team or even employer. Even on a H1 visa, it is not unheard of. The first rule in the Valley is your time is precious and don't waste it on an arsehole boss. Given that this person is contemporary of Iyer (someone who passed out of college in 2000), he must have been in USA for more than 10 years, most likely a green card holder. Such a person will not simply sit while his career is destroyed around him/her. There is more to this story than just caste or what has been reported.

In all this article conflates a lot of things. It simplifies India complex (and supremely evil) caste system and affirmative action. It mixes us OBCs with Dalits. It mixes upper castes with Brahmins alone. And it conflates caste with "religion/nationality" etc. This is a paid hit job written by a lawyer to help a particular lawsuit.
