mamta should take help from NaMo ;)
i am amazed to see the pace of development in Dholera SIR and GIFT city in Gujrat...from survey to planning to acquisition to agreements to investments, it has been possible only because of NaMo...

man only 2 buildings are uc in gift and dholera sir has not even started.

the proposed financial hub is on the outskirts of kolkata...a completely new city :)
but building such cities is not easy..takes lots of planning and not to mention land acquisitions which i doubt are possible in Bengal like they were done in Gujrat...

Can't agree more buddy. It would've been possible if someone like Mr Buddhadeb was on the power;but now Mamata and her goons running the govt, there is little hope left.

loll i reallly laugh at mamta. she might not be corrupt and good at heart but she doesnt know **** about planning has not intellect like manmohan singh in economic decisions.
she looks manmohan's younger sister, but behaves more like mother in law. everytime he launches a new policy that could do a huge benfit to country. she goes to delhi and forces him to stop it claiming it is not good for wb...loll idiot. look at the way she talks..comedian. just imagine this woman in white saree having meetings with world leaders like obama. it would piss them off that how can u make her cm.

construction comes last dude :)
there are many things that government has to do before starting construction...
and Gujrat Gov already has sold 2736 hectares of land in Dholera SIR
Gujarat govt sells 2,736 hectares in Dholera SIR - Indian Express

besides building such cities is not the only thing Government has to do...they also have to build ports for exports and Gujrat has done that already :)

So now we can have a debate about who is better CM-Buddhadeb,a commi(quite liberal though) or Mamata,a commi wanna be.

Even old delhi looks newer than Kolkata. Like I said, it lives in a different era. Life is slow, very good for old and poor people though.
People wise, kolkata is a very friendly place to outsiders. I am outsider to both cities.

And I am native of both. I will tell you my personal experience about the kind of people Kolkata has and their friendly nature...

I was staying in Menton area ( very near to Ashok Cinema/Thakurpukur/ South Kolkata ). I went to purchase some disposable plates. One of the plates was dirty(top one). I asked the shop keeper to please replace it. She made some weird face and obliges. And when I give her Rs10 note, she gives it back and asks for a cleaner note. I was dumbstruck at the attitude of the people there.

Even a simple/daily wager also plays politics there. Getting anything to function properly itself is a huge achievement in Kolkata.

#Offtopic - but relevant in the context of discussing the entrepreneurial mindset of people of different region.

I cannot help but feel that the politicians of WB do not want their state to improve, they are comfortable in petty & short sighted activities.

One expected this lady to turn things around , she is a damp squib who lack vision.

In short WB will become another BD,with 2 powerful factions vying for power through hook or by crook with no real progress taking place in the land..the ultimate loser being the common people.

all the political parties that been formed by backward class ppl for backward class ppl, like bsp and trinamool not be replaced by economically smart parties. these parties gain huge support immediately reason- majority(80%) of voting population of india is poor and farmers and its very easy to fool them. they will tell them that when we come to power we will give free electricity and water to u guys and they blindfolded will vote for the party. we need someone like prithviraj chauhan or the namo to rule these states for atleast 15 yrs.

Best wishes to people of Kolkatta and west bengal.
Such development would help seven sisters states also to some extent.

Actually it is impossible that GoI will allow Gujrat to be the financial hub simply because it is too close to the pakistan Border.
Also as above posted pointed, it is imperative that Kolkata inspite of all difficulties grow as a financial hub which will supplement the growth in NE states.

it is nothing to do with pakistan. namo will not let goi stop any development. u know that the 150 billion dmic, goi is literally struggling to acquire land for the development in other states. wile on the other hand gujarat has already acquired all the land required and sold it to developers. gujarat leads and goi lags. kolkatta has the potential to grow but not an economically sound govt. we need some in wb who forces his way to development like namo or chauhan not someone who forces to pm to stop retail reform, labour reform, nctc, and all policies that can create millions of jobs. just read this

On October 3, 2008, after a brief meeting with the Chief Minister, Ratan Tata declared his decision to move the Nano Project out of West Bengal. Tata mentioned his frustration with the opposition movement at Singur Project led by Trinamool Congress chief Ms. Mamata Banerjee. Ms Banerjee responded by referring to actions by Tatas and the state government.[29][30]
The CM of Gujarat, Narendra Modi then sent an SMS to Mr. Ratan Tata, which simply said "Suswagatham", to persuade him to relocate the Nano factory to Gujarat.[31]
It took 14 months to build a new factory in Sanand, Gujarat compared with 28 months for the Singur factory

will tata ever go back to wb for any damm buisness

no, it has nothing to do with classes or economic development. it is all about culture. indians are not honest by culture.

And Chinese are slaves by nature incapable of independent thinking.
