Tropical countries are happier for sure. Mexicans living in United States all seem to be very happy, partying all the time even their salaries are not that high. I think compared to northern farming cultures, the weather is less harsh (No bitter winter), survival is easier with a lot of natual food (and fish). So this is no surprise.
