I dont care what women do...The very fact that this lady has survived for half a century eating sand is remarkable....

Metagenomics of the gut will identify the gut bacteria responsible to accommodate the stress of putting in more bacteria from the soil while metagenomics of the sand will tell us the soild component which rendered it safe for human consumption....

Further chemical analysis on the sand would be useful to know what the sand is composed off...

Americans have now decided to show their superiority and have started consuming Sand and Rocks inorder to dominate the whole planet. That way when the Apes finally take over, they will not have anything to hold on to.

I think they have already identified the cause as per the article,it's only that the boy's parents are extremely poor and hence are not being able to bear the costs for the Kaleem's treatment.Mate,if you know some NGO in your locality that can help this boy through financial assistance please inform them about him and his condition.I am only asking this because this family lives in Gurgaon which is quite near where you are.I would love to help this boy but i live in Bengal which is far away from Gurgaon and hence can't do anything for him

As a biomedical researcher, I found the stuff amazing. I have not posted it so that certain posters take cheap shot at the lady or her country. People can develop bizarre habits, and amazingly don't get hurt though logic and knowledge suggest otherwise. She is literally surviving while galloping one kilo sand, she must have an amazingly strong digestive system. Sandblasting is used to clean stuff, for sand is extremely abrasive in nature, and this lady's organs are surviving all that abuse for this long.
