BSF soldiers patrol border at India-Pakistan International Border Post– File Photo

RAWALPINDI: As many as six Pakistani civilians, including two women and a child, were seriously injured due to small arms firing and mortar shelling by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at village Surkhpur at Chuprial sector, 10 kilometres from Sialkot at 2000 hours Thursday evening.

According to a Pakistani military official, the injured were shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Sialkot.

Moreover, Times of India reported that a Border Security Force (BSF) trooper was killed in the incident.

Sources said the firing started around 730pm (IST) and went on intermittently.

Reports said some families from villages close to the zero line had started moving to safer places.

This was the eighth ceasefire violation in the past 10 days. The two countries had reached a ceasefire agreement in 2003.

Jammu: A ceasefire violation that began last night has resumed at the international border in the R S Pura sector of Jammu. One BSF jawan has died,

The firing between Pakistani rangers and the Border Security Force (BSF) which had stopped for the night, started again this morning after the rangers fired at the ambush points of the BSF.

This is the third violation in the last two days.

On Independence Day too, firing between the two sides started after Pakistani Rangers targetted a BSF observation post in the Hiranagar sector and fired at forward posts in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch.

There was also firing at Indian Border Out Post (BoP) of Pansar along International Border in Samba sector.

Sources in the BSF say there has been an upsurge in ceasefire violations over the last few days. They say one of the reasons could be the discovery of a secret underground 400 metres tunnel, dug at a depth of 25 feet that was recently detected in the Samba district of Jammu. The BSF fears the tunnel that ran from Pakistan to India was used to ferry men and ammunition into the country.

I don't know what is Indians' problem...They fire at Pakistanis without any provocation...and get their poor soldiers killed...and then they blame Pakistan...Remember last time when Pakistan Army killed bunch of indian soldiers..indians were crying like no tommorrow..here again..they injure our civilians..

This is their typical SOP (Same on Bangladeshi border - Killing Civilians) .When Pakistan Army retaliates it never kills any Indian civilians and targets the adversary only (i.e Indian Army Soldiers). Now Army will have to take out couple of Indian Soldiers .Just few months ago Indian Army killed few civilians and Pakistan Army had to act and took out 2-3 Indian Army Soldiers.

I don't know what is Indians' problem...They fire at Pakistanis without any provocation...and get their poor soldiers killed...and then they blame Pakistan...Remember last time when Pakistan Army killed bunch of low-life indian soldiers..indians were crying like no tommorrow..here again..they injure our civilians..and we send one indian soldier to hell...Inko b sakoon acha nahi lgta

first of all..stop saying Indian troops fire at pakistan posts...no one can be sure who does this first. Indian media reports Pakistanis do it.

and stop calling soldiers low life...thats shows your immature part...i dont wanna respond in your way by calling your soldiers low life.

Remember this when next time your soldiers get killed anywhere and hope people won't call them low life just like you called our soldiers...Respect soldiers...Funny thing is why your comment wasn't deleted by the MODs......

Also make sure, your soldiers don't fire at ours, risking your civilians....killed as collateral damage.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased on the Indian side and wishing speedy recovery to the injured on the Pakistani side. It's a pity that a precious life is lost due to gross misunderstanding on both sides. Feels like this tread is destined for the gutters so i'll just say this, there need to be regular flag meets and better coordination amongst the militaries on both sides to negate the loss of life and property. Isolated incidents such as this are deplorable and should be avoided at all costs so that peace might prevail.Recurring episodes like these have the potential to rapidly transform an benign situation into an explosive one which is the worst possible thing for the region.

Yesterday 2 Women, 1 children and 3 males seriously injured by BSF firing they are currently getting treatment in CMH hospital Sialkot. Pakistan Rangers replied in a good way BSF understand only one language and show some respect to Jawan its not his fault he was following orders.

Dont go by reports published in just pakistani media. In India we have been reported in a different way. Its impossible to detect which side fired first for us here. So calm down. let the rangers and BSF to have a flag meeting and sort out the problem. We should not fight here with our half cooked knowledge over this matter. Peace.

Well, if the so called male civilians had crossed over as they were intending to, they would have to be liquidated as all terrorists should be.. BSF prevented the cross over despite the cover fire given to the terrorists by the Pakistani army.. Unfortunately 1 BSF soldier achieved martyrdom in the process.. What I am not sure is if the woman and children is actually a fibbed up story or if the 3 terrorists who were trying to cross over used them as human shields and got them injured in the process...

Didnt that happen almost daily ..why wait for celebrations then.........................:hang2:

Fanboys seem to be quite excited over this. The manly elixir was maybe missing all of lastt day.

By the way, how come on Pakistani side 6 civilians dead and on Indian side one jawan is veergat? Were the marde monims off to prayers with the defence left to civilians? Something like Kaamraah? Or were they hiding behind the civilians. Trick of better aiming?
