Indian,Nepalese army women hold 18-day Himalayan trek.

New Delhi, Oct 30 (PTI) In first of its kind inter- military interaction, a mountaineering team comprising lady officers from Indian and Nepalese armies has carried out an 18-day-long Himalayan trek. The team had 10 lady officers from Indian Army while the Nepalese side was represented by 11 women officers. The trek took place around Annapurna Base Camp at the height of 4130 metres in Nepal from October 8 to October 25, Army officials said here. "The team was selected after trials which were conducted at the Army Mountaineering Institute at Siachen Base Camp. The Indian side was led by Maj Reema Sobti and they were joined by eleven lady officers of Nepalese Army in Kathmandu," they said. The ten-day actual trek period was routed through the picturesque and world famous Annapurna Trek Route commencing from Nayapul, the traditional starting point of the route, officials said. After finishing the expedition, the team was given a reception at Kathmandu where they interacted with the senior officials from the Nepalese Army.
