An Indian navy fleet has docked at the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas, as the two countries work to boost friendly maritime relations.

The fleet, comprising the INS Beas (F37) and INS Betwa (F39) frigates, arrived in Bandar Abbas, the capital of Hormozgan Province, on Friday for a four-day stay.

Admiral Amir Hossein Azad, the commander of Iran’s First Naval Zone, said the Indian warship is visiting Iran to promote peace and security in the region and improve Tehran-New Delhi ties in security and economic fields.

He added that Iran and India play a leading role in regional peace and security and said, “The world now believes that Iran is the axis of stability and security in the region.”

During their stay in Iran, the Indian naval personnel on board the warships are scheduled to hold joint exercises with Iran’s Navy, hold talks with Iranian Navy commanders and local officials and visit historical and cultural sites of Hormozgan.

That was fast! It was only last week that Iran's Navy commander asked for closer ties!

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Indian forces sailing on the fleet of warships that docked in Iran's Southern port city of Bandar Abbas on Friday will practice in joint naval exercises with their Iranian counterparts in the Persian Gulf in the coming days.
During the drills, the two sides will practice exchange of information and intelligence, relief and rescue operations and operational capabilities and power.

Rear Admiral Hossein Azad, a top-ranking Iranian Navy commander, said boosting technical capabilities, expansion of naval interaction between the two countries, exercising maritime relief operation as well as getting prepared to deal with maritime disasters will be among the major goals of the maneuvers.

The message of the joint drills will be peace and security in light of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, the commander said.

A detachment of India's fleet of warships docked in Iran's territorial waters in the Southern port city of Bandar Abbas on Friday.

Two F39-type frigate warships of the Indian Navy berthed in Bandar Abbas port and they will stay there for several days.

The Iranian Naval officials in a ceremony welcomed the Indian warships' commanders.

In March, Iran's 33rd fleet of warships berthed in Cochin Port of India.

The Iranian Navy has been conducting anti-piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden since November 2008, when Somali raiders hijacked the Iranian-chartered cargo ship, MV Delight, off the coast of Yemen.

According to UN Security Council resolutions, different countries can send their warships to the Gulf of Aden and coastal waters of Somalia against the pirates and even with prior notice to Somali government enter the territorial waters of that country in pursuit of Somali sea pirates.

The Gulf of Aden - which links the Indian Ocean with the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean Sea - is an important energy corridor, particularly because Persian Gulf oil is shipped to the West via the Suez Canal.

Next there should be tri-partite Iran-India-Oman Naval Exercises in Gulf of Oman. I look forward to that.
These three countries worked together behind the scenes to set up the Nuclear Agreement.

@Arminkh
You try to improve ties with India if your neighbor muslims country is strong opponent.
You strike against Isreal tyranny against Palestinian muslims and keep blind eye towards muslims of kashmir,
Why.

Its just a port visit, no need to get your knickers in a twist. And the answer to your question is in your very next post.

They also fund shia terrorists organisations in Pakistan to empower their influence in our country .

With such sectarian hate, you want Iran to support you guys?

Both ships belong to the Brahmaputra Class Frigates, which are Indian designed and built, propulsion systems included. They carry 16 Kh-35 missiles in AnSh roles and 24 Barak in SAM roles. They can carry 2 Sea kings or Chetak helicopters

Iranians like any other nation care for their national interests. The Palestine issue, is used for several reasons. In Lebanon, they invoke Palestine so Hezbollah and Assad can gain political control over Lebanon to expand Iran's influence. No other reason, and they have to claim to support some Palestinians in the process. So they support some factions that are smaller but not with much. Ties with Hamas have ended though. So they support smaller parties, mainly a small shia one. With funding to spread their ideology, military wise they're insignificant. So really they don't support Palestinians, they just invoke the cause to advance their interests. And with Pakistan, they don't like alliance with Saudi Arabia plus some economic project disputes. They probably just try supporting Shias in Pakistan and wait till they get more power.
Iran better stay out of kashmir . She destroyed palestine thru hamas and hezbollah etc, we dont want any destruction in kashmir. Stay away from there.

Rest as of indian war ships docking and drills that is their internal matter , we need to see how we shud counter threats from thiis 'brotherly' nation and cooperation extended to our worst enemy by her.

Chill down friend.

If anything Iran has tried to substitute the conflict between Pakistan and India through economic cooperation. Didn't Iran government spend time and money to make the peace pipe line a reality? What do you like Iran to do?

Chahbahar will be a future terrorist factory.
Chabahar can be a foundation for peace and cooperation for any friendly nation that wants to take part. Iran wants to stay neutral in this conflict of yours. Both India and Pakistan are strong enough nations to handle their own affairs.

Chahbahar will be a future terrorist factory.

Ah so; Iranians have Terrorist Factories do they ?
@Arminkh, @SOHEIL, @Haman 10,@yavar can you gentlemen you throw some light on what Mr. Sad Engineer claims.

As for me; I know that Punjab in pakistan is the most efficient and productive Terrorist Factory that one can find right now.
