Indian MoD opts for Seahawk in navy's MRH tender

The NH-90 has also had various "issues" in its operational cycle. By contrast the S-70 platform is VERY mature.
Good choice and now its time for me to put it in IN colors then @Capt.Popeye

This also doesn't says that The S70B has an advance variant...The main thing the article( Thread article not this one ) says is S70b and nothing more or less than that...S70b seahawk is again 1979 issue and the article nowhere says that the today's S70b are upgraded... I am totally confused....Please Help...........

@Oscar; that is my personal view too. It also happens that many in the IN think the same too. IN's flyers think well of the Seakings as it is. Though there were spares/maintenance issues in the past (for political reasons not technical) and issues with the dunking sonar right at the induction; but that was then taken care of by India.

I mean whenever changes are made in avionics, company changes its name to prove its technical considerations...For e.g Apache 64D block 3 is termed as Apache 64E...Similarly C130 is also divided on technological segments like C130A/B/E/F/G/H/K/T/J/K etc, Similarly HAL dhruv has varients mk1,mk2,mk3... But S70b seahawk which model the IN is choosing is old and there are no varients after that ( considering only s70b seahawk )

This image shows that there are no varients of S70 for export rather than S70b Seahawk which is again 1979...o_O

@TimeTraveller - please read my posts in this forum to understand that the latest generation S-70B that the IN will be getting is nothing like the original S-70B from the 80's. Very similar in appearance but many new features & equipment. Especially read the posts on page 4.

@TimeTraveller - sorry, my bad. That info is on the Defense Forum India website, a different blog. I have much information on the 70B posted there for the MRH threads. Please read the following article which I authored sometime ago.
"Sikorsky S-70B - Right choice for Indian Navy Multirole Helicopter program"
I cannot post a link to that site since this site will not allow it.

Thanks Sir...I will watch it out.....

We really need an HUH (heavy utility helicopter) project by Dhruv's makers.

One OFF Topic Question Sir....:offtopic:.......What are your views about India(i mean country)....?:-)..Just asking.......
I have not had the opportunity to visit your country so my knowledge is by way of the news and the brief interaction I have had with the Indian Navy delegation that Sikorsky hosted some 3 years ago during the evaluation phase. So, I have not been exposed to your country and just a small sampling of its people. I consider India to be a valuable ally in this turbulent world. I know of its struggles with poverty, infrastructure, and corruption. I found the IN folks I dealt with to be intelligent, professional, and gracious. I would have looked forward to working with them had I remained with Sikorsky. I feel India is a country struggling to find its way and make a better life for its people. This will take time but I believe it is headed in the right direction.
