In 1980's India bought Mirage 2000 and this did not impact India relations with Russia. India went on to Buy/ make Su 30 MKI. Russians are very well of India Intentions that it want to procure medium / Light Fighter aircraft ;- Rafale/Gripen/Tejas of which Russians make none. Russians are specialist of Heavy Fighters like Su 30/35/ Mig 29 which have higher loading capacity but are not agile like delta wing fighters and also Russian fighters have lower Fuel economy.

The ruble is at approx 1ruble=1.03INR at present, they need India the most in the current scenario!

You just 2 to 3 years are doing exercise with USA tell me since 70s till 2005 how many exercises you conduct with USA
