প্রধান বিরোধী দল বিএনপিকে বাইরে রেখে একতরফা নির্বাচনের এজেন্ডা বাস্তবায়নে তত্পর ভারত। এরই অংশ হিসেবে গতকাল প্রধান নির্বাচন কমিশনারের (সিইসি) সঙ্গে ভারতীয় হাইকমিশনের পলিটিক্যাল কাউন্সিলর মনোজ কুমার মহাপাত্রের এক রুদ্ধদ্বার বৈঠক অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। বিকাল পৌনে চারটায় শুরু হওয়া দেড় ঘণ্টাব্যাপী বৈঠকে সংসদ নির্বাচনের বিষয়ে ইসির অবস্থান, নির্বাচনের দিনক্ষণ, প্রধান বিরোধী দলের অংশগ্রহণ করা না করা, নির্বাচনী বিভিন্ন কৌশল ও বিরোধী দলকে নির্বাচনে আনার বিষয়ে ইসির পদক্ষেপ, বিএনপি না এলে নির্বাচন গ্রহণযোগ্য করার উপায়সহ নানা বিষয়ে দীর্ঘ আলোচনা করা হয়েছে বলে বৈঠকের একটি দায়িত্বশীল সূত্র নিশ্চিত করেছে।
ইসির দায়িত্বশীল সূত্র জানায়, নির্বাচনের সব প্রস্তুতি নিয়ে ভারতীয় হাইকমিশনের পলিটিক্যাল কাউন্সিলর মনোজ কুমার মহাপাত্রের সঙ্গে সিইসির আলোচনা হয়েছে। কবে নির্বাচনের তফসিল ঘোষণা করা হবে, সম্ভাব্য ভোটের তারিখ, নির্বাচনের সার্বিক পরিবেশ, ইসির সক্ষমতা, সামগ্রিক নির্বাচনে ভারতের সহযোগিতা লাগবে কিনা ও প্রধান বিরোধী দল নির্বাচনে আসার বিষয়ে ইসির পক্ষ থেকে কোনো পদক্ষেপ নেয়া হচ্ছে কিনা এসব বিষয়ে আলোচনা করা হয়েছে। এছাড়া সুষ্ঠুভাবে নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠানে ভারত সরকার সার্বিক সহযোগিতা করবে বলেও সিইসিকে আশ্বস্ত করেছেন মনোজ কুমার মহাপাত্র।
বৈঠক শেষে এ বিষয়ে মনোজ কুমার মহাপাত্র বলেন, নির্বাচন ও রাজনৈতিক কোনো বিষয়ে সিইসির সঙ্গে আলোচনা হয়নি। বৈঠকে নির্বাচন কর্মকর্তাদের ট্রেনিংয়ের বিষয়ে আলোচনা হয়েছে। নির্বাচন কর্মকর্তাদের ট্রেনিংয়ের জন্য ভারত ইসিকে সহযোগিতা করছে। সাম্প্রতিক নির্বাচন প্রস্তুতি ও নির্বাচনে ভারতের সহযোগিতার বিষয়ে আলোচনা হয়েছে কিনা জানতে চাইলে তিনি কোনো মন্তব্য করতে রাজি হননি।
