I agree that white skin is an issue in India. For example, quite a few songs celebrate the word "Gori" ( woman of white/ight skin ).

But I would also put it that some actress with brown/dusky appearance have found success - Chitrangada Singh, Ileana d'Cruz and Nandita Das. These are beautiful women. Even Katrina Kaif is not that light-skinned.

Compare this to the moderate success found by the milky-white actress Tamnnanah Bhatia.

Whereas in Pakistan it is rare for browned-skinned women ( or men, I suppose ) to be successful. Though @Zibago introduced me to Sunita Marshall. And there is also Hadiqa Kiani and Saba Qamar.
