The world is not ideal and idealism does not run the world. India even if it likes will not take the step of letting Kashmir go because it has far reaching consequences on security and similar demands coming from other states. There is cost to keep Kashmir but it's return of investment is justified.

Plebiscite is not an option when emotionally charged people have to vote based on emotion without any logic. (Considering Pakistan meeting condition can be ignored). Insurgency run over decades impacts wide range of population, you can make people understand issues of unintended collaterals in short span of time but difficult to convince when it goes on for decades.

Additionally if someone because a militant and get killed irrespective of parents liking him as militant it will still develop negativity against the justified action

On the other hand joining Pakistan seems rosey to some mainly because they feel religious attraction. There is no logical thinking of what Pakistan offers vs India. Since they have lived life under insurgency in India they might feel good about Pakistan in short term.

Kashmiri population if have to truly evaluate if their staying with India vs Pakistan only on merits excluding insurgency and religious affinity India offers way more than Pakistan.

Overall Pakistan did not play fair by using a temporary anti India sentiment and injecting Jihad in India. On the same lines India will also play its game.

Overall Kashmiri suffers and I stand by my view that they fully deserve it. A society that hates others purely on religious lines and are extremely intolerant to different point of view killing and raping their own just because he was Hindu has blood in their hand and the price they are paying is totally warranted.

There is no logical thinking of what Pakistan offers vs India.

What is India offering since decades? Fires? Tear gas? Pellets? Bullets? Taking away the dignity of their women? Oh yes Pakistan can't offer that all. Only India can. We see that.
Oh and how can I forget, world's largest democracy expel Kashmiri students for supporting Pakistani cricket team or rising Pakistani flag. Nice offer.
