The official statement was about the words spoken at that function, and therefore has to quote it directly. The quote itself was not made in an official statement. Otherwise an official statement would not contain such language.

I've been having my doubts about the Indian Express for sometime now, but haven't publicly voiced my opinion about them till now. But after this latest instance of manipulated reporting, I've just about had enough. There is something deeply troubling about this newspaper.

Consider this, This is the first, and only newspaper, to report on the alleged coup in 2012(?). That too in a media set up wherein nearly all news sources generally get news information at about the same time. That was the first odd instance involving the newspaper.

Next up came the news of Akash SAMs' repeated test failures, again reported only by the Indian Express. That when every other media outlet had already reported to the tests success. Hell, The DRDO themselves had announced the success of the tests (barring one, which again was reported widely).

Then comes the third trigger. DRDO ABM test (AAD or PAD or AD1. I can't recall). The Indian Express pushed very hard to get the tests declared as being complete failures, because the ABM hadn't achieved interception. The other media outlets, and DRDO themselves, would clarify that the purpose of the test was never to achieve a kinetic/proximity kill, and hence had the proximity fuse removed/disabled.

I don't need to remind anyone of the reporting about the 'terror boat'.

Fact is, This newspaper has been repeatedly reporting manipulative stories, and refusing to own up when proven wrong. It becomes a little difficult to ascertain the motives for such reporting, but there exists a definite pattern for anyone willing to look.

The Indian Express must be hauled over the coals by the Press Council of India and their license cancelled for a year for false and sensational reporting for TRP ratings.

While agreeing to most of your post....... How are you proposing pakistan to pursue this issue???? According to Pakistan there is no such boat....... It has been 1 and half months since the incident, I am yet to hear someone talking about the whereabouts of this boat......

was it a walima Function? why he had to insert a quote from his function statement? is it because the Indian Coast Guards or either dumber than BK Koshali to take his 'informal' words as official STATEMENT? or he is trying to prove them dumb enough by linking the boat episode with Biryani ?

The day you start banning papers burning books and labelling anyone you dont like as anti india is the day India dies.

The paper may be wrong or perhaps sheds light on what happened. Indians have a right to know, the good and the bad.
