DIG Loshali never said Pakistani terror boat was blown up by us: Coast Guard | Zee News

New Delhi: The Coast Guard on Wednesday rubbished a story published in a leading English daily which quoted a DIG as saying that the Coast Guard had destroyed the Pakistani terror boat that was intercepted on the night of December 31, 2014 off the Porbandar coast.

Coast Guard Deputy DG KR Nautiyal told the media the story was not factual.

Quoting a written rejoinder submitted by DIG BK Loshali, Nautiyal said the operation against the boat was not handled by the officer.

“We have received a rejoinder from DIG Loshali. This (report) is not factual. He does not subscribe to the text whatever has been reported. He has not made such a statement,” Nautiyal said, clarifying on behalf of the Coast Guard and the DIG.

“What he (Loshali) said is that anti-national elements do not need to be served biryani,” he added.

The Coast Guard also released the rejoinder submitted by DIG Loshali. It says:

“Whatever has been reported... is not factual and I do not subscribe to the text. I have not made this statement. However, I had made the statement that anti-national elements do not need to be served biryani and to be handled as per the law. As a matter of fact, the operation was not being handled by me and was spearheaded by Commander, Coast Guard Region (NW) and ops team being classified in nature, I was not privy to it completely. I reiterate the boat set herself on fire and was not sunk by the Coast Guard” - BK Loshali, DIG, Chief of Staff, Coast Guard Region (NW)

The newspaper, in its report published this morning, had claimed that DIG Loshali had contradicted claims that suspected terrorists onboard the Pakistani terror boat had blown up the vessel.

The daily claimed DIG Loshali said at a function recently that it was in fact the Coast Guard which had blown up the Pakistani boat on the night of December 31, 2014.

As per the daily, Loshali had also disclosed that it was he who had ordered that the boat be blown up. “Blow the boat off…We don’t want to serve them biryani…”

The DIG's statement, as reported by the daily, had contradicted government's claim that the suspected terrorists had set the boat on fire and blew themselves up after being challenged by the Coast Guard.

Statements issued post the incident by the Defence Ministry, the Defence Minister and the Coast Guard had claimed that the boat was intercepted 365 miles off Porbandar coast following an hour-long chase by a Coast Guard ship on New Year’s Eve.

Photographs later released by the government showed the boat on fire.

As per the MoD, the vessel had set off from near Karachi on the eve of New Year and reportedly had four occupants.

Following the incident, there was speculation that the Pakistani boat was inside the Indian maritime boundary for 'drug trafficking or smuggling', but the government had debunked that theory.

There should be a case filed against newspapers who print false stuff.

It is high time that there is a legal punishment on freemouthing like this without taking MOD into consultation.

Time for Parikkar to file a case against these blabberheads.

Seems like certain political parties are planting fake news to steer public sentiments.

I've been having my doubts about the Indian Express for sometime now, but haven't publicly voiced my opinion about them till now. But after this latest instance of manipulated reporting, I've just about had enough. There is something deeply troubling about this newspaper.

Consider this, This is the first, and only newspaper, to report on the alleged coup in 2012(?). That too in a media set up wherein nearly all news sources generally get news information at about the same time. That was the first odd instance involving the newspaper.

Next up came the news of Akash SAMs' repeated test failures, again reported only by the Indian Express. That when every other media outlet had already reported to the tests success. Hell, The DRDO themselves had announced the success of the tests (barring one, which again was reported widely).

Then comes the third trigger. DRDO ABM test (AAD or PAD or AD1. I can't recall). The Indian Express pushed very hard to get the tests declared as being complete failures, because the ABM hadn't achieved interception. The other media outlets, and DRDO themselves, would clarify that the purpose of the test was never to achieve a kinetic/proximity kill, and hence had the proximity fuse removed/disabled.

I don't need to remind anyone of the reporting about the 'terror boat'.

Fact is, This newspaper has been repeatedly reporting manipulative stories, and refusing to own up when proven wrong. It becomes a little difficult to ascertain the motives for such reporting, but there exists a definite pattern for anyone willing to look.

Bloody media....

And nothing wrong in blowing up the suspicious boat. It could carry nuclear weapons who knows what the terrorists will do ? It's good move . If they don't respond to the warning of the coast guard . What will USA will do ? . When we have unstable neighbours who themselves can't control the mess . We have no option to do anything to save our people . Can't wait for them to attack so the decide they were terrorist or smugglers carrying dangerous goods .

If some unknown burglar enters this author house in the midnight what he will do . Serve him biriyani or beat the shit out of him or even kill him to save his family ? Bloody selfish seculars .

Nobody would fault them for blowing up the boat, especially after what happened on 26/11. But if they blew it up, they should say so, not that the boatsmen blew themselves up. It's these contradictory statements that are unbecoming.

Good riddance to the terrorists or smugglers or whatever they were.

When our force esitate to say then matter should be dealt with some caution . Media is not govt enemies . It's looks like all secular media some how want to blame Modi government.

Which is wrong as well . Wh as the need for such a witch hunt by these India Today group and other white media house ?

The media has not blamed Modi or his govt. Stop tilting at windmills.

The force has not been hesitant either, that's the whole problem. They categorically claimed one narrativee at the time, and now apparently is giving a different one. Not saying anything would have been better.

Ban these anti-india papers.. In the name of freedom of press they are denigrating and shaming the nation..

The day you start banning papers burning books and labelling anyone you dont like as anti india is the day India dies.

The paper may be wrong or perhaps sheds light on what happened. Indians have a right to know, the good and the bad.

oh So an Indian DIG Chief of staff for commander Coast Guards, high ranking official use words like Biryani in a highly official statement? what a slangy language Indian high ranking positions use.

Above all I also have Objection over 'Genderization' of the "Terror Boat" by BK Loshali so Indian Express should ask him to apologize to all females, address the mistake and correct the sentence. Or BK Loshali should avoid translating Hindi into English word by word otherwise i will overkill his language skills by my newly invented words like Genderization.

and yeh am Serious @third eye @Bang Galore @Horus @Armstrong @SarthakGanguly @levina

1) There is no such thing as "DIG Chief of staff for commander Coast Guards".
2) It was not an official statement. It was a speech given during a ceremony.
3) For a self proclaimed journalist, your factual knowledge and language skills are both very sloppy, to put it kindly. You really shouldn't be questioning or critiquing other people's language skills.

This is the same paper that printed a false news on Indian Army trying to engineer a military coup in 2012 , and tried to malign the army .. the rt thing may not be to ban the paper , but govt. has to take some stringent actions against the paper for printing malicious articles to increase its readers base..
