Indian Army movement plans leaked to ISI in 2014

Oscar...

I agree knowing your enemy is important...

But you did indicate in your point where Britsh sacrifised their troops to outsmart Germans that is the reason why i said these two countries are not involved in war so we cannot equate these to incidents....
Yes I agree with you

Its a proxy war that Pakistan has waged against India. It makes sense to relate the other two countries

Could be a ploy to spread dis information. Happens all the time.

Sir, hell of a way to spread dis information, what does it do to the moral of both the foot soldier and public, knowing that your enemy is well aware of all your plans and movements. Since Indian MOD sat on it for a year, it proves the seriousness of the espionage.

@Abingdonboy @COLDHEARTED AVIATOR

During Mumbai attack there was a news about someone called HONEY BEE who was leaking lots of information to PA .PA was very satisifed with the info they are getting about IA and they even are boasting about this to David Headley . I am still not sure whether that and this case has any relation and god knows how many more moles there are in IA .

Exclusive! Who is ISI's Honey Bee in New Delhi? - Rediff.com News

There are moles everywhere.Happened during Kargil war as well.Recently a lot of these moles have got caught.I hope the clean up ends soon.

It would be impossible to clear all the moles. If a eye is kept on every government official, still someone will do it. We have to do the same thing with them. If PA knows our positions then PLA knows it too. And PLA has the same aerial surveillance as ours.

Well actually yes if this was disinformation this would only hurt moral of Indian Armed Forces so it has to be true that is for sure.

Indian Armed Forces are used to all these stuffs. Their positions are already more vulnerable to aerial surveillance then this!

I wonder what the courtmartial charges are. Treason? And what's the penalty?

Consider you never heard anything made public, who knows...... This would be treason. Certainly at that level.

What role do the satellites play in the border movement? And what advantages India has over Pakistan?

Oh Satellites are an indispensable part of a robust ISR screen around the borders. When a division redeploys to a new area, it's not just 15,000 men moving to the area. For the IA, it's roughly 3000 vehicles plus mobile HQs, additional assets, attached formations etc that make their move, leaving a very long and obvious trail for the satellites to pick up.

This is from the recent conflict in Ukraine. And you can observe how sharp and clear the imagery of the movement is.

During 1965 war for example, the logistics train for the 1 armored Division, IA was almost 100 miles long. You cannot hide such movement.

This is what satellite based ISR focuses on to generate real time intelligence of possible enemy movement. This information is then further reinforced by HUMINT and ELINT assets to confirm the satellite picture.

Foliage and fog covers up the movement to an extent, but only in the visible spectrum. There's always infrared to fall back on.

PA did what they have done previously, but I think they should have only sent well equipped recon teams and should have asked PAF to send recon planes UAVs could have done good job or if necessary F-16s with DB pods could have done armed occasional recon.

@Oscar I have to concur with @Jango here. If you are observing news coming out of Rajasthan sector. The cold start and Rapid deployment corps are deployed in Rajasthan. For last 3-4 years they are practicing rapid deployment in annual exercises in Rajasthan sector. Nasr is specifically developed and fielded for this sector. Cold start concept started with Rajasthan Corps and later changed to Rapid deployment of both army and air force assets in 24-48 hours

Any sudden movement by IA 1 corps in Rajasthan would usually bring knee jerk reactions from PA planners.

On a side note. This is the reason Pakistan don't share evidences of Indian involvement in Balochistan and FATA publically because the moles would get exposed
