Indian Air Force to receive air-launched version of BrahMos missile in 2016

Well we have Agni-3 which reduce its weight from 48000 to 22000 or let it say scientists make it possible, The Bravo of DRDO is great. We need to develop more distance Brahmos like missile with Russia or separatly, Brahmos has key instruments of target destroy, we can see some excellent videos of action of Brahmos

Here the question may raised that due to MRTP Not possible to make missile with more than 300km range, but on wikipedia there is mention of missile with 400km range made by Japan and US. So jointly we can make more range Brahmos.

I go Insane continuous talk for defence, I went in one car of relative and i ask him what is range of your car, he replied do you mean average, the range is unlimited how much petrol you pour in it.

Instead I suggest speed up and finance for the Brahmos mini immediately to get better power.

The problem for the current version might be the late induction of the upgraded MKI, while the missile itself could be modified much faster.

I am bit confused with all the Brahmos related news.
How many missiles MKI is supposed to carry after upgrade ??? And which version. Are Air launched and mini same or different ???

Brahmos 1 => current version
Brahmos M => smaller and lighter version of the earlier

Both will be avilable in air, ground or submerged launched versions, with minor modifications if required. Brahmos 1 airlaunched for example will not have the same booster that the ground lanched version has. That makes it slightly lighter and shorter. Brahmos M however will be designed to be used in all versions without such externa modifications as it seems.

MKI upgrade will increase the capability of the centerline station to carry a single of the current Brahmos 1 versions, modified for the air launch.
Brahmos mini is lighter and should be able to be used on the same 3 hardpoints that currently can carry KAB 1500.

@sancho : what do you think of the MKI numbers in IAF ???
1 We know 272 is well established number.
2 We surely know there are 200+ inducted as of 2014.
3. We also know 42 upgraded will come from Russia directly.
4. We also know HAL said it will take 2017 to 2018 to complete the total order and they intend to keep open the production line till FGFA ( read here somewhere )
5. We also know for sure HAL production line give out 12 a year minimum since last 6/7 years and they were aiming at 16 per year.
6. If we count at the lowest possibilities 200++42+12*4 = 290+

Has MKI order been increased ????

No, but you mixed up some figures. The total "order" not operational number (since at least 2 of the newly ordered are replacements for MKIs we lost) is 272, with the last order to be 42, but this order is added to the Indian production line, to keep it busy as you said until the FGFA production can start. We won't add more fighters from Russian production lines.

I thought 42 were coming direclty from Russia.

How that's possible?

IF size deceases, the volume available for storing fuel decraeases too and thrust produced by engine will decrease too.

Yes but the total weight of the missile also decreases .

So the 3 points I raised might be used by them to retain the performance parameters of Brahmos-1 in Brahmos mini although it is lighter and smaller .

Fuel consumes most space in any missile.

just to share that mkis production rate is 16/year now. read it in some article
:p::p::p: If I may correct you ........ ( you did't read my post )
Target was to achieve 16 per year is never achieved publicly. The known production rate is 12. You are welcome to prove me wrong.

How many Brahmos minis will a flanker carry? If more than one, then this is worth investing in. Otherwise I see no point in it.

As per Sancho said and reports from the news agencies 3 Brahmos-M ;.

They should talk less & do more work, product ke induct hone ke baad bola Karo yaar

True but in case of Brahmos its in Hand of Russian too, and its joint venture and not sole depend on DRDO more than that the key technologies are available, so not need more development time, example the time taken by LCA mark-I and Arjun mk-I is more in compare to LCA mk-II(future) and Arjun mk-ii

Brahmos mini will not be able to carry 300 KG payaload like its 2.55 tons version of Brahmos, its obvious that small size and restriction on weight (it will weigh 1.5 tons) mean that it will carry less paylaod compared to normal size Brahmos.

The sources says Brahmos mini will have range of 290 KM which is believable but is obvious that it wil carry less paylaod.

In the missiles the New technology is giving the edge to new missiles, the change in technology give the boost to the missile technology, In the Missiles the Agni-3 48,000 kg weight which is reduced to 22,000 kg, which is advance one jumping, In missiles we are doing best, I think we need to get the tech of Brahmos-I missiles Navigation and exact target destroy as seen in many videos on you tube in which triangle is destroyed by it, So new tech reduce the weight and many aspects, hence Brahmos mini might be carry 300 kg weight with same range.

Let's hope for the best

Missiles is the future weapon above all tops, howitzers and many more.
