Indian Air Force Bound To Reject Gripen Fighter Jets After SAAB’ Secretive Military Deal With Pakistan?

World super power, who always keeps on crying, b!thcing, whining and weeping in front of entire world on whatever peanuts Pakistan buys in terms of defence equipment

.
Even if Grippen is considered it will fall flat where heavy weights are contending.

I don't see reason why they are participating in the bidding when they have nothing to match Russian, French and US offerings.

Get lost Grippen...
Modi stated to the Indian Air Force that India cannot afford to buy Rafales to keep up the squadron count. If India really wanted Rafale, they would not have started a new tender. The Eurofighter will be more expensive than the Rafale.
Even Lockheed-Martin F-16 pilots say that Gripen E is better than the latest F-16. Gripen E has basically the same functionality as the Rafale, but will have somewhat less range and can carry less. The total cost of ownership is about half of the cost of the Rafale.
It does have the same engine as India plans to manufacture locally for the Tejas Mk II, and AMCA.
It allows India to qualify basically any weapon in its inventory including Russian weapons for use with Gripen. Rafale is more or less limited to French weapons.
It can be equipped with the GaN based radar SAAB is currently developing for a USAF 6th generation fighter. The EW of Gripen E can only be matched with the F4 version of the Rafale which might be available in 5-8 years.
I would say that SAAB has a much stronger value proposition than anyone else in the race.

You are right about the Gripen. But, India will never buy the Gripen, no matter how good it is. It overlaps too much with their Tejas programmes and the roadmap for it( India achieving that roadmap successfully is a different story entirely... :omghaha: ).

Rafale was bought, because France offered a lot of kickbacks to all those involved and it offered the Meteor. Swedish laws over kickbacks are very strict and they enforce them.

The largest client of SAAB for AWE&Cs is Pakistan right now, with more units that anyone else in the world. SAAB was wise to understand "that a bird in the hand is worth more than 2 in the bush..". SAAB would be wise to continue its relationship with Pakistan "regardless" of what inducements India may place on bushes in the future.

Having been ruled out of the race for Indian Air Force’s (IAF) procurement of modern fighters for their depleted squadrons under the first Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA 1.0) competition, Swedish aerospace and defence company Saab, has repeatedly pitched its Gripen jets to New Delhi.

The aerospace giants, who are based out of Stockholm in Sweden, are one of the frontrunners for the MMRCA 2.0 to cater to IAF’s need for an additional 114 fighters, having offered the Gripen E jets to provide an extra attacking impetus against the likes of China and Pakistan.
However, with reports of potential collaboration in jeopardy due to supply chain problems in the production of the fighters, there were reports that the Swedish corporation had also offered a lucrative deal for its Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) to India’s fiercest rivals, Pakistan.
AWACS
AWACS, also known as “Eye in the Sky”, are key systems of modern warfare as they can detect and track incoming fighters, cruise missiles and drones much before ground-based radars and direct friendly fighters during air combat with enemy jets. They also keep tabs on enemy troop build-ups and movement of warships.

According to a statement released by the company, it had secured a deal worth 165 million dollars to supply an undisclosed number of Saab 2000 Erieye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) system aircraft.
“The industry’s nature is such that due to circumstances concerning the product and customer, further information about the customer will not be announced.” as per the statement released by Saab.
With a cloud surrounding the revelation of the buying nation, it has become highly probable that the country is none other than Pakistan, who have over the years enjoyed a prosperous relationship with the firm over recent years.

Following India’s airstrike at Balakot in Pakistan under the directions of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, one of the crucial aircraft deployed by Pakistan were the Erieye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) system, supplied to them by Saab.
According to reports, Pakistan is understood to possess at least six Saab 2000 AWACS along with Saudi Arabia, which has two of the systems.

India had last year, protested against Sweden’s role in equipping Pakistan with AWACS, stating that the Pakistani Air Force had used the systems “extensively “in the February 27 aerial battle to direct and control 25 fighter jets towards Indian targets”.
As per a report by Jane’s Defence Weekly, a weekly magazine reporting on military and corporate affairs, “Saab delivered three sets of radar equipment to Pakistan Air Force Base Nur Khan (Chaklala) on April 9”, last year.

According to Saab, the Erieye AWACS boast the ability to fulfil multiple roles such as air and sea surveillance, intelligence gathering and command and control functions, with their active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar system detecting targets up to 450km away.
A defence expert, Anand SG, stated that Pakistan equipped themselves with the significant piece of machinery from right under India’s noses.
“SAAB has quietly delivered without much fanfare three more Saab 2000 Erieye Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) in April to Pakistani Airforce, which comes after crucial dogfight episode with Indian Airforce in Kashmir, where both sides were actively using AWACS Aircraft to monitor airspace intrusion and also guide fighter formations,”

IAF due to the larger size of its fighter fleet will require a minimum of 20 AWACS fleet of aircraft to fight a full-fledged two-front war with China and Pakistan, but the slow pace of decision making in Government of India and also IAF’s obsession with early-warning radar systems mounted on heavy-lift aircraft over mini-AWACS like NETRA makes its AWACS fleet highly vulnerable against a combined fleet of 40 AWACS fleet which both China and Pakistan operate at present.”

According to reports, the deliveries of the AWACS are scheduled to run from a period between 2020 and 2023. Moreover, as disclosed under Pakistan military’s yearbook for 2017-2018, Islamabad also obtained three baseline Saab 2000s for a total cost of $9.3 million.
how many more different types of Jets India needs to induct in its airforce? is there some point to prove that it must have each of every kind of a jet there is? I thought MRCA was decided after choosing Rafales.

how to react to such behavior?
I am clueless. should I laugh at Indians or feel pity for them?
country A bullies its neighbors claims supremacy and instigates a conflict against country B.
country B counters it effectively and brings the pride and bluster of country A to the ground.
country A then goes around the world protesting against all suppliers that sold equipment to country B which was used to give it a bloody nose.

after receiving the thrashing from PAF, I recall Indians started to threaten Pakistan right after 27 Feb 19 that they will tell Americans that Pakistan used F-16s and Americans will be very very angry and upset with them.

what a sorry state of mind this is. by the way, did Pakistan go and complain to France or Russia that their Mirage 2000s and Migs/ Su30s were used against Pakistan ?

Its actually good for us that this thing is enabling us to become self reliant in most of the defense procurements ultimately saving billions in dollars of the tax payers money.

good wishes and prayers. after the terror attack on a PAF base that resulted in destruction and damage of AWAC planes., the Swedes were very upset and disappointed with PAF for failing to secure and look after such critical, high quality and expensive piece of hardware.

my old associate in PAF narrated the story from his relation (also in PAF) who headed the work on the restoration of one of the SAAB AWAC that was damaged in a terror attack. the Swedes certified the work to their required standard and were amazed and pleased with the work ethic dedication and quality of PAF personal involved in the restoration.

Good for us..

Imagine instead of spending 20-30b on failed LCA & rafale had gone to gripen..

We would have been in trouble

In 20 b india could have produced 300+ gripen NGs with lotsvof ToT for its fifth gen fighters

Just see how brazil worked out its deal with sweds
