The stupid article makes it look like entire India is only thinking of rapes.

A majority of India is overwhelmingly benign and calm. There are more crimes in 3-5 states such as Haryana, Delhi, parts of Rajasthan, Bihar, Bengal and UP. Other than these notorious centres, there is no wave of rapes going on the way these morons are portraying it.

In my state, crimes itself are rare and mostly you'd hear things like young boys getting drunk and in fist fights. Punjab, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan MP are prominent states here and their cities are very safe. There are crimes but those rapes are just vandals and criminals, just like they are in USA, UK, Russia or any other country.

In fact, western countries have far more sexual assaults per capita than either India or Pakistan. This is despite all efficient legal systems and facilities they have in place.

Since similar countries like Pakistan(and more irrelevant ones like Afghanistan) are included we can be sure that they would have also surveyed BD. BD has a very strict culture that frowns on harassment of women - you are considered very low to pester a woman over there.

Now we have a neutral analysis that puts India as the rape capital of the world and so we need to look at why this is and how to combat this. No wonder Indian men are caught in planes in the US putting their hands down a girl's pants while his wife sat right next to him

PS - US is known to be very dangerous for women(heard somewhere that a woman reports as being raped every 6 minutes over there) and I am not be surprised that it has a very high rape rate as like all western countries men and women mix freely. In a conservative culture like India, rape rates should be almost non-existent and very worrying that it seems to be the highest in the world.

India, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the US are among the top 10 most dangerous countries for women, according to a new poll by Thomson Reuters Foundation.

The organisation surveyed nearly 550 experts focused on women's issues, asking them to rank countries based on a number of key issues, including access to healthcare, prevalence of sexual abuse and discrimination.

The experts ranked India as the most dangerous country for women.

"The world's second most populous nation, with 1.3 billion people, ranked as the most dangerous on three of the topic questions - the risk of sexual violence and harassment against women, the danger women face from cultural, tribal and traditional practices, and the country where women are most in danger of human trafficking including forced labour, sex slavery and domestic servitude," the findings said.

The report specifically pointed to the 2012 gang rape and murder of Jyoti Singh, a 23-year-old physiotherapy student.
