Weapons would be exported to third-party nations, said India’s Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

India wants to build armament factories in Vietnam to export to third countries, a military industry meeting heard Wednesday.

The meeting was a part of a series of events organized on the occasion of Indian defense minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s visit to Vietnam.

Meeting with top Vietnamese leaders during her four-day visit that ends Friday, she said India-Vietnam military cooperation doesn’t stop at buying and transferring military technologies.

India looks to set up armament factories in Vietnam for export to third-party countries, she said. She also hoped that Vietnam would become a prime destination for Indian businesses, especially in defense and military sectors.

Major General Ho Quang Tuan, Vice Chairman of the General Department of Defense Industry from Vietnam’s Ministry of Defense, stressed that military cooperation was a cornerstone in the strategic partnership between Vietnam and India.

He also said the two countries were having "open, direct" dialogue regarding military technologies and weaponries.

Vietnam is strengthening its military cooperation with India as part of its “peaceful” defense policy, foreign ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang had said at a press briefing last year.

She was responding to an inquiry about India's offers to sell a batch of short-range ramjet supersonic cruise missiles, BrahMos, to Vietnam.

Hang said the procurement of defense equipment "was consistent with the policy of peace and self-defense and “normal practice.”

"The bilateral security and defense ties have been making practical contributions to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large," she said.

India has already supplied patrol vessels to Vietnam and has been providing military training. The BrahMos missiles deal, once finalized, would be the first arms trade deal between the two countries.

Good point!! India is the superpower 2012. It has powerful forces. but if this propaganda is set up. Pakistan is a Super Super power. They insulted India many times. so unfortunately, it is a backward agricultural country...

Russia has Kamaz producing military trucks in Vietnam. America has Kraig biolab producing spider silk for military vests. Now India wants to set up armaments plants. There is a trend.

Hey why don’t Chinese set up plants to produce tanks? I am pretty sure Vietnam can produce tanks cheaper. And we can export to other countries.

Sales promotion included.

Buy 100 tanks get 1 free.

Following your logic, China is a Japanese colony.
Seriously man, your logic is all flawed.

I will admit however they were teenagers AFAIK and that it might not have been rape, but it's still disturbing none the less.
I agree a lot of his views were regressive. In due course, he moved with the times and tempered his views. By today's standards these views would still be regressive.

He did do a lot for equality of people with experiments like the Tolstoy farm. He was no saint and he did write and talk about his "sexual experiments".

LOL these plants are really impressive , Unless Vietnam is willing to buy thousand of our tank, it's unlikely China is interesting to setup plant in your soil, we would rather set plant in Thailand and Cambodia than Vietnam.

Trump slapping more sanction on CN now and that could lead to a big chaos in CN in 2023 when hundred million jobless Cnese stand up against King Xi and his family . SO, actually India even have a very big chance to take a large part from CN (Tibet maybe )when CN collapse under US's sanction like Soviet.

Right choice for Indian to increase her ammunition stock now by building an armament factory in VN cos she need to support a lot of weapons to Tibetan forces when CN in chaos

Chinese stooges as Thailand, Cambodia are too weak.

What? India? How can you Viets become so desperate?
We need to sell weapon, lots of weapon, to CN rebels to make money when CN in chaos in 2023, thats why Indian weapon factory is in VN now

This is not gonna working. Many rising developibg countries want to bought armaments with inhouse production and ToT scheme. If production and transfer technology only benefiting Vietnam what else the reason country like Malaysia or Indonesia to bought Indian weapons? Take Indonesia Turkey scheme about Medium Tank project or Malaysia Turkey FNSS PARS 8X8 project. We are ready to pay premium as long as it will be benefiting us in long terms
India just planning to use vietnam as a manufacturing hub for exporting defense equipment. Though they still doesn't specify which type of weapons the vietnamese will be building?
