India to enter high-speed internet era with Isro's new satellites

I never said that. You are putting words in my mouth now. There are more than two measures of size of economy. Your lack of knowledge is not my problem.

I am quoting your statement word by word without any modification:

GDP nominal means nothing, nominal does not adjust for inflation. It is a worthless measure for comparision, especially for quality of life.

Now you do not want to own your own just because you unleashed a ugly stuff by mistake?
Ok.

But do not accuse me of putting words in your mouth which I did not.

I am the last man to take this accusation.
It is akin to you pissing on my legs and claiming its raining.

Stay away.

Or I will ignore you as I always do with other snoutbands.

It does not pay to be frivolous dude.
Learn some.

Nominal GDP Does not adjust for inflation. Thats a fact. I don't see any issue with it.

But does it automatically mean that I am suggesting that PPP should be used for comparison? I guess not. Infact I never even mentioned PPP anywhere.

So in other words, you are clearly saying; nominal does not adjust for inflation, it has to be PPP based.

See the problem here. Rejecting Nominal does not mean taking PPP by default. Infact GDP itself may not be the right metric for quality of life or broadband price or anything.

If you want to compare -- which is what that Chinese poster was doing while quoting GDP in a Broadband thread-- you need to know compare in what respect. GDP Nominal is a terrible choice for comparing quality of life in two places.

I do not see whats the problem here?

Ignore me all you want, but Nominal and PPP are not only measures of GDP. And here GDP is irrelevent, this is a broadband thread.

US, Panama & Ecuador, how they adjust their GDP for inflation if not nominal?
They do adjust for that. That metric is called GDP in Constant dollars or Real GDP at times.

See here (For China and Panama) You can add more places if you want.

PPP captures a very differ angle of economy btw, Real GDP (Inflation adjusted) and PPP GDP are different. Heck PPP GDP is also sometimes expressed in Constant dollars.

PPP = Better coverage of non traded parts of economy.
Constant currency GDP = Inflation adjusted.

If the US can adjust their in their own currency viz; dollars, why cant others?

Nominal GDP Does not adjust for inflation.

Then why above statement?

The reliance jio offer is a home based wifi or data connection?

They have already released data connection, that's what all the fuss was about.

A new fiber broadband with home based wifi is set to be released all over India. The max speed available for now is 1Gbps. They want to introduce 4K cable TV based on this network.

If this is true, then surely a very good news.

That's how development happens in India. It is sudden.

Take the new Health Policy for instance. Last year, there was no real policy for health care, it was all sub-Saharan Africa standards for the majority of the population. This year, we have framed a policy that will bring us to western standards in just a few years.

Same with defence manufacturing or infrastructure. Every time a policy is framed, it simply takes off.

Some of these companies are so large that they have the financial muscle and manpower to make massive changes very quickly once the govt creates a policy.

Nominal GDP Does not adjust for inflation.

Then why above statement?

Nominal GDP is different metric from Real GDP. It does not compensate for inflation related increase in the figure. That is all this statement mean.

In the context of the post it means, since nominal GDP does not adjust for inflation, it is not proper to be used for comparison. Infact quoting GDP for broadband prices itself is stupid, which is what I pointed to that chinese person. They are not directly related.

PS : Posting this post from a Metro train. Funtimes!

DoT further simplifies the process for linking of Aadhaar with mobile number

- Introduces new OTP based option for consumer ease with two other convenient options

- Industry welcomes the move and pledges support to the government

In a bid to expedite compliance of telecom service providers with the Hon. Supreme Court's order dated 6th February regarding linking of Aadhaar card with mobile number and reverification process of mobile users, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) issued a comprehensive instruction on Wednesday.

As per the new rules, the DoT has introduced three new methods to link the registered mobile number with Aadhaar i.e. OTP (One Time Password) based, App based and the IVRS facility. These new methods will help subscribers to get their mobile number linked to Aadhaar without visiting the stores of the telcos. For the ease of senior citizens and the people with disability and chronic illness, DoT has also recommended for the re-verification at subscribers’ doorstep. According to the new guidelines, the telecom operators should provide an online mechanism for people to request such service and based on availability schedule the visit and complete the process.

Speaking on the development, Shri Manoj Sinha, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Communications, said “The Aadhaar number system was designed to allow all residents of the country access to critical government services and important information that they may need from time to time. Mobile penetration is increasing rapidly in the country and the subscribers need to be provided with the ease of linking of the Aadhaar number with the mobile number. It is the government’s endeavour to improve convenience and reduce time and energy spent by consumers to accessing government information and services that is their right to access.”

Representative of COAI stated, “The latest clarifications from the DoT are aligned with what the industry, and the subscribers need at this time. While, it will take a little time to implement the directions, we are working closely with the government to improve and enhance the convenience of our consumers for undertaking Aadhaar based e-KYC linking of their mobile number. We are implementing all the necessary processes so as to be able to use the additional methods prescribed including OTP, App based and the IVRS facility. We expect it to get much faster and easier for individual mobile subscribers to comply with the e-KYC norms using their Aadhaar Registered Mobile Number (ARMN).”

In a circular in August, DoT had given instructions to the telecom service providers to provide iris or fingerprint based authentication of Aadhaar. The new regulations have specified that the telecom service providers must deploy iris readers for this purpose within a reasonable geographical area.

Further, in keeping with privacy rules, the DoT has mandated that telecom service providers’ agent should not have access to the subscribers’ e-KYC data and only the name and address of the subscribers should be visible. Subscribers can verify or re-verify their mobile numbers from anywhere in the country irrespective of which service area their mobile connection belongs to.
