When was the last time you saw a Bengali girl wearing Denim at her wedding?I thought Bangladesh at least has enough of good garment industries, but Bangladeshis come to Kolkata in large numbers even for marriage shopping and shopping for festivals.
It's about the 'Trust' factor......deep inside even Bangladeshis know it...

Shopping is part of tourism.Nothing special about Indian or Kolkata market.A lot of American,German tourist visit Spain,Italy and buy a lot of stuff there as a part of their tour.It doesn't implies that Spain,Italy produce better quality stuff than US,Germany or American ,German go there because they can't find good quality product in their home countries.I can assure you,99 percent Bangladeshi don't go to Kolkata to do shopping.May be border districts like Khulna,Jessore resident go there to buy things for convenience.I am sure,Bangladeshi who visit other countries also do shopping there.Bangladesh also has traditional dress manufacturers, and make good sarees, shalwar kameez, kurtis, sherwanis and panjabis...and jewelries...if I am not mistaken! Lots of Bangladeshis come here to buy these stuff from Gariahat, New Market, Bowbazar areas. It's not that I am complaining...

You are mistaken. 90 percent Bangladeshi doesn't wear dhoti during wedding,so no benefit of going to kolkata.May be some Bangladeshi hindu from border region go there to find hindu wedding items. Many come here specifically to shop for marriage ceremonies, and to shop for festivals.
I am surprise to hear Bangladeshis can afford Indian Hospitals.

Bangladesh doesn't produce good quality clothes for local market. Mostly left overs are sold in domestic market. 'Made in Bangladesh' products are great abroad but same labelled products in local markets are shit. We go to Kolkata and other foreign cities for buying our own products.
From where did you get this bullshit?Or do you only shop at the rejected apparel market in Dhaka? It is very pathetic to swear lie about BD to promote your master Bharat.Bangladesh doesn't produce good quality clothes for local market. Mostly left overs are sold in domestic market. However, Bangladeshis enjoy a good time here, Kolkata as a city is more modern, almost always they travel in metro to check it out, watch films in multiplexes, shop in malls or just visit them for their appeal, eat in restaurants and food courts, and sometimes just stand on the sides of the roads with the awe of seeing a modern city!
From the pics I've seen of Dhaka, it looks just as developed and modern as the major cities in India and Pakistan.
Dada - How many Malls in Kolkata ?You must have seen some pics of buildings, hotels, etc. rest of the Dhaka city is in shambles. Dhaka doesn't even have a decent public transport system, a prerequisite of a modern city, they have lakhs of rickshaws as a mode of city travel. Besides, with just 1 or 2 malls and multiplexes it is hardly a modern city.
