India should stop using Mumbai attacks for propaganda: FO

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit on Thursday said that India should resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations’ resolutions, DawnNews reported.

India should also stop using the terrorist attacks in Mumbai for propaganda purposes, Basit said.

Speaking to media representatives, Basit said India should stop using the Mumbai attacks as an excuse to delay dialogue with Pakistan.

He further said that India has a rigid stance on the issues of Kashmir and Siachen.

Basit reiterated that Pakistan was serious in the investigations of the attacks in Mumbai and hoped that the Indian government would allow Pakistan’s judicial commission to visit India for the purpose.

He said Pakistan was concerned over the continued drone attacks and hoped that the United States would review its policy. — DawnNews

Mumbai episode made Indian leaders mad with rage and even after two years they have still not forgotten the incident and forgiven Pakistan. The incident in which 166 people lost their lives is being compared with 9/11 and anniversary is held each year. Obama during his maiden visit to India was made to stay in Taj Hotel which was one of the places of terrorist attacks to let him shed tears of sympathy in remembrance of the dead and to admonish Pakistan.

European leaders visiting India to ink economic agreements and to sell their defence merchandise are also taken to Mumbai and they too perform the ritual. French President Sarkozy and German Chancellor Merkel performed these rites recently. One wishes these visitors had spared some tears for over 100,000 Kashmiris slaughtered in Kashmir and for unmarked mass graves in Kashmir.

my dear buddy, pakistan is not doing favour to india or world by fighting with terrorists. pakistan is fighting for its survival. if pakistan doesnt stand up and fight now, the consequences will be far greatre for pakistan than any other country. so please dont think it as a favour.

secondly, wat is happening in pakistan is due to faulty policies of US/PAK/SAUDI. us/pak supported mujhahideens in fight against USSR. the same mujahideens now form part of TTP and al-qaida.

i agree the world (including india) should support pakistan in its efforts against al-qaida. but pakistan cannot be choosy in fight against terrorism. it cannot fight with TTP on one hand and help LeT on another.

It is Pakistan that is actually trivializing the death of 166 people by saying 'Move on' to India.

This is like saying 'Dont trivialize the death of Americans on 9/11 and asking US to move on'.

and now we should move on after mumbai attacks..................but plz tell when to stop and ask...............hey we moved on but what have Pakistan done the things we left behind???????????

I would just say if India asks Pakistan to 'move on' over Kashmir, Will Pakistani Government accept it ?? NO

Why because the people of Pakistan dont want to. Similarly the Indian people dont want to 'move on' on this. We have 'moved on' over several terrorist attacks over decades. We are not ready to 'move on' any more. and it is a good sign. Only when this happens Governments become active and do something worthwhile other than just issuing some inane condemnations against Terrorists as if that will hurt them.

The worst thing that can happen to a nation and to its people is getting in-sensitised over the loss of life like some of the Pakistanis are now after a decade of terror (no insult intended) and worse still if the master mind of the attack still moves around freely in the neighbouring coutry.

No we dont want to move on , if 'moving on' implies just turning a blind eye to the atrocities committed by the terrorists on the incident and they go unpunished.

Regarding the diplomatic capital that India is accused of getting out of this, pray tell me if Pakistan is atleast marginally sincere in prosecuting those responsible for that heinous crime, what is the need for India to pursue this matter ?? It is only because of Islamabad's deliberate scuttling of the process that makes India do what it does and so dont blame India for this.

You ar etrue to some extent except that most of the high profile terror attacks were due to Pakistan based groups in India like 2002 Parliament attack (JeM), 2004 Akshardham attack(LeT), 2008 Mumbai (LeT).

Tell me until how many people die, we should just keep 'moving on' ?
