India plans to procure 22 AH-64D Block III Apache Helicopters

So according to your logic your J10 is waste of money and about engine program that is the worse case of failure i think you should scrap it and totally rely of Russian engines

I'll leave the Chinese members to answer the question. But I don't think its fair to compare China and India as the comparason is not appropriate now.

Ok...India had learn how to not run a project and develop the infrastructure to run the project. All these infrastructure cost a lot of money that could be use to purchase more apache. Its just different priority to spend the money.

Well you are wrong for most of your points. Our priority and the MoD priority has been quality indigenous products. These are mainly stop gap measures that are being taken. The Apaches are just 22 Gunships that are being ordered. The main attack helicopter programme is the LCH. After the LCH if the IAF and IA require heavy attack choppers then HAL/NAL/ADA will develop it.

And The MoD has so much money that the forces return nearly 30% of the budget every year that are alloted for purchases. That is why you can see the forces going into a shopping spree every January as they need to spend the money given to them before the budget has been allocated.

That is stupid logic for meeting long term defence needs. Composites as well as key mission control systems of Indian origin will be used on the FGFA which would not have been possible without investing in indigenous defence capabilities.

If India's arms purchase behind. This will do irreparable Asian security impact. India must buy more advanced weapons systems. The maintenance of peace in Asia is favorable, the military must be balanced.

Well, would you rather have LCH or apache. I'm certain the answer is obvious. We do not know when LCH will be ready for induction. It might take 10 years and by then, it will become obsolete. Apache is a proven system and if India induct in a greater number than just 22, it will make a major impact in India defence capability. My advise is to get the best bang for the buck instead of waste it on research that might never bear fruit.

How do you know what will happen with FGFA. PAKFA is already designed and they just have to reegineer the plane to make it a two person plane. As for the joint development, it would be no different with MKI. There will be some Indian companies getting transfer of technology from the Russian Suppliers.

They key point here is that India desires a 5th generation fighter and it believe that the best way to achieve that is via joint venture. Can you imagine India try to develop a 5th generation fighter along the LCA method. India will be looking at 2050 for induction date. Its likely that Indian air force has lost confidence in HAL.

Apache program started in the 1970's the LCA will have further block upgrades in future to maintain it's cutting edge plus we can export the helicopter to bring in revenue.

HAL’s work share will include critical software, including the mission computer; navigation systems; most of the cockpit displays; the counter measure dispensing (CMD) systems; and modifying Sukhoi’s single-seat prototype into the twin-seat fighter that the Indian Air Force (IAF) wants. Further Russia’s expertise in titanium structures will be complemented by India’s experience in composites like in the fuselage

apache is still the most advance heavy attack helicopter out there. LCA will not be ready for a while and its just a another waste of Indian people's money.

Your opinion means nothing the project is well on its way to being inducted having met key requirements.

First Flight of Light Combat Helicopter

The indigenously designed and developed Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), powered by Shakti engines, undertook its inaugural flight on 29th March. It is laced with Forward Looking Infra Red Imaging Technology, Laser Range Finder facilities for target acquisition under all-weather conditions and data link for network centric operations. The 5.5 ton capacity helicopter is due to get its Initial Operational Clearance in December, 2011.

yes,,it is another waste of money to gain the first lesson "how to indigenize our armed forces"...

& you should not bother as it's our money,be it a flop or success nothing should be your concern..

Well you must understand what is research first of all.

That is the fundamental of research. And 22 is a stop gap measure. We already have the Upgraded Mi 35 doing the jobs.

If this is what make you feel better, keep on failing. Its a psychological thing for you. But its the people of India that are getting ripped off. Nice job.

LOL. China has been making jet engines for decades. What do you think is on the old J-7 (Mig-21), the old J-8, the old H-6, the JH-7? All Chinese engines.

For modern high-performance turbofans, China relied on AL-31F from 1990's until 2009. Why? Because it is very good. Chinese industry could not produce something better.... until now....

Now China has improved over the AL-31F. We have the 125 kN thrust FWS10. All J-11B and J-11BS use FWS10. See the photo can check if it is AL-31F.
