India & Pak would have stayed united but for Nehru: Dalai Lama

Millions died in WWII for what actually? The fact that Jinnah wanted to be the first PM of India proves that Pakistan was just a plan B for him to seat in the PMs seat.

Mr. Jinnah had TB disease....He knew about it...So Jinnah wanting to becoming PM of India is very absurd claim by Hindu nationalists just to soothe their ego by portraying Jinnah an evil guy despite knowing he was not at all power hungry person.

Dalai Lama experiencing pain over partition. That is good. The Brits are no different. Their faces are worth seeing when they talk about the partition.

I love it how they fantasize about turning things back LOL If only they had it their way.

I like to think Gandhi was a better man than that, don't forget he protested for the amount Pakistan was to receive after partition. Gandhi was more than just a man who would like to take revenge on Muslims for 100 of years of rule. He did believe in a united sub-continent but when he realized it wasn't to be, i don't think he conspired against Pakistan. Please correct me if i am wrong.

Nehru and Congress is what psychobhakts rely on to blame for failures. In reality, Nehru and Congress built India from a damn poor country to an regional economic power. The school drop out RSS sakha Gundas ruling India cannot understand this.

As I said, he wanted a unified sub continent under "hindu" rule, not on equal basis.

The behavior of the Congress ministries from 1937-39 convinced millions of Muslims that Jinnah, the Quaid-i Azam, as he has now popularly called, had not been exaggerating when he spoke of the dangers of Congress rule. It seemed to many that Congress was aiming at nothing short of drowning Muslims identity and culture in a wave of Hindu nationalism.
  • A series of moves, including the compulsory adoption of singing Hindu nationalist songs such as the Vande Matram, alienated and worried Muslims.
  • A ’Basic Education’ scheme was launched by Gandhi at Wardha, later known as the Wardha scheme, and was introduced in all Congress educational ministries.
  • Spinning cotton by hand was made a part of the curriculum
  • Teaching was to be in Hindi with no religious education which meant that Muslim students were at a disadvantage.
  • School children were also required to show reverence for Gandhi’s portrait which was hung up in their schools.
All this provided a perfect opportunity for the Jinnah to remind Muslims that this would be their fate in a Congress dominated India at the Muslim League meeting at Lucknow in October 1937.
  • He stated that the Congress had shown that ‘ Hindustan was for Hindus’.
  • He pointed out that British were failing in their promises to safeguard the minorities in Congress-run provinces.

I would disagree, Gandhi could be negotiated with and say if sub-continent did stay unified i think Gandhi would have worked for equal rights. Gandhi was not like Nehru or other Hindu leaders.

Agreed with your points, but didn't Gandhi resign from congress due to his difference with the direction it was heading in. Gandhi was a peaceful man who would have never sought out violence, i think if he was say in control of India during the partition time he would have found solutions to many problems unlike Nehru who only saw Pakistan as an insult and treated us like crap.

I think at the time of partition Gandhi was not in Delhi and was in Bengal to calm down the killing of people and riots. Within short time of his arrival there, both Muslims and Hindus stopped fighting.
