India-Pak sign MoU for trading electricity

New Delhi, Jan 21: In what could be a positive move for strained relations between India and Pakistan, the cabinet of both the countries have decided to sign an MoU for trading electricity. According to sources quoted in Daily Times, the federal cabinet the Ministry of Water and Power initiated negotiations with India.

In fact, the World Bank has undertaken to finance the feasibility study of the project. An official release after the federal cabinet meeting state that the reason for India's confidence on Pakistan was the improving state of the Karachi Stock Exchange that has crossed the record level of 27,000 points.

This, in fact, is evidence of business community's confidence in the economic policies of the government. An official from the Pakistani side said,"the Indian prime minister said our country had great potential and if peace and security was restored, we could achieve significant economic progress and development in short time."

Pakistan, in fact, is showing efforts to improve its relations with China, Turkey and the UAE also, signing several memorandums pertaining to nuclear power, banking, finance.

Not at all good for India, electricity should be used in India as its one of the biggest booster of gdp and development. Helping enemy is not good at all when they abuse you daily after each gulp of water and food.

What about the claims of govt. of India like export of terrorism, fake currency and working against India etc. etc.??

we are selling them......if we dont sell then somebody else will........its about business........claims apni jagah sahi hai,phir bhi trade hota hai na.......

besides energy requirement in India is in 100's of GW......a few 100MW's isnt going to affect our gdp.......rather we will get more money

we won't be giving it to them for free. they will pay for it. its pure business. . . isn't it ??

The rates are for charity, no profit no loss basis. So no gain business or otherwise but pak economy will get a boost as they are power starved and have very less demand as they are small nation and not developed like India that they have huge demand or consumption.

free mein kuch nahi hota......when one state sells electricity to other state.....the prices are hiked by 40-50 percent ......sometimes double the amount

here we are selling it to pak......they will be certainly charging a gud amount
