Perhaps you do not know very much about your own country where your parents and grandparents grew up in? 1977 is not that far back in history, is it? Moral righteousness is a laudable quality but not when it is based on ignorance.

liquor was legal in pakistan up until 1977.There used to be a lot of night clubs and bars that days.And liquor was even served in military mess until 74(even the loss of 71 was was attributed to avid drinking habits of pak generals)

I think he meant among ordinary people.

I was there many, many years ago and never saw a bottle of alcahol, or any drugs.

Anyway, this stuff, like cocaine from colombia to America, is demand driven. If people didn't want it, nobody would smuggle it.
