It should be conditional such that this missile system should not be targeted against Russia. Since now they are claiming to have a part in this, I don't think there is any harm in joining by risking our old friends.

huh? these are defensive missiles ( shield) --- how did you get the " pointing at russia" or any country? its for inbound traffic and not outgoing offensive missiles..

A person should never let his practical thinking overule his moral one , You don't even know what kind of probelms we gonna face by any kind of cooperation with NATO in the past it has attacked two muslim nation and indian muslims will jump out of their chair with such kind of news.
And NATO is not going to give any kind of tech for free.

Turkey already has NATO ABM missile systems installed on its soil. Turkey has been a member of the NATO since 1952. Turkey was also the seat of the Ottoman Caliphate which ruled the entire Muslim world from the 16th to the 20th century. The Caliphate was officially abolished when the Republic of Turkey was established in 1924 by Kemal Ataturk.

Saudi Arabia is slated to receive and operationalise the NATO ABM systems anytime now. You are aware that SA has been trying to promote itself as the premier torch bearer of the Islamic world for the better part of the 20th century. Their claims are based on the fact that some of the holiest of Muslim shrines are located on Saudi soil. Also that the Koran was originally written in Arabic which is spoken in SA. In this quest, SA has had to face opposition from both Turkey and Iran (non Arabic speaking Islamic states). Both these nations lay claims to leadership of the Islamic world.

Now, the Indian Muslim (and by this I include the British Indian Muslim) has traditionally supported the Saudi and the Turkish claims to the rightful heir to the Caliphate for the simple reason that there are/have been more Sunnis than Shias in British India/India. The entire Khilafat movement of 1920s was based on support for Turkey or Ottoman Caliphate by Muslims of British India.

Now that is exactly how matters stand. Turkey and Saudi Arabia, the two widely accepted pillars of the Islamic world already having accepted the NATO ABM systems and have deployed the same/ in the process of deploying the same. In fact Saudi Arabia though not a part of the NATO is one of its staunchest supporters. SA is also the spiritual torch bearer of Muslims of the Indian Subcontinent. What I mean is that for the Muslims in Turkey or Iran or Algeria or Russia or Albania or Bosnia-Herzegovina or Chechnya or Dagestan or Kenya or Sudan or Indonesia or Malaysia, it is not the most important thing in the world to learn Arabic or to proudly display their knowledge of that language as they are very confident and happy with the language of the land where they were born, but for some Muslims in the nations carved out of the Indian subcontinent, knowledge of Arabic is a defining feature. we know why this is so.

If India should deploy ABM systems on its soil, I am sure they will be Indian ABM systems which would have been further refined by technology from the west and they would be designed to protect the lives of millions of Indians from external aggressors. Giving this matter which has purely national security considerations a fake religious angle is pure bullshit.

I therefore do not feel that you have any case at all. I will be happy to hear reasoned counterpoints from you.

Just tell me one thing ! Is it coming free of charge ?

India should seal the deal as soon as possible. we are in dire need of this.

Nothing in this world comes free of charge......
My intent was to ask about the terms and condition which bind India before the ToT

I completely disagree with the NATO missile shield program.

Even though it's china, we should not hesitate to take the good point from them. They are giving more preference to their home made products, we must learn that from the chinese. Instead of wasting money in NATO missile shield we should devise plans to improve our BMD program and it will help to create more jobs in our country also. What we are going to attain from the NATO missile shield??? our hard earned $$$$ in some one Else's packet...right??.. If we opt for NATO missile system our scientist's hard work will go in vain, then what's the use of working in these program for years??

There is no immediate threat to India from china. India is one of the China's biggest trading partner, it's hard to replace a trading partner like India to china and as well for us too...

If we make a shield for our country, we may expect full tot also that helps in making our radar systems and situational awareness and indigenous missile systems more capable. We then can produce in mass no's latter.
