India losing Pak tea market to Kenya

I guess this means tea becomes cheaper in India :cheesy:

How is that a bad thing ?

. .
By that extension of your logic, stop all Indian exports, so that everything would become cheap in India.
How is that a bad thing ?

Only if the exports rises the prices in India.

Export of Automobiles actually reduces the price of Automobiles in India due to economics of scale.

Same with export of software services. Its reduces price of development in India.

Clearly logic is not your strength.

Our government is actually retarded, I don't use that often but fgs we have given and continue to give so much trading concessions to a country that clearly is hostile and wants to see every Pakistani dead - what the hell is wrong with us?

Plenty, and that is the global consensus.

While the software is the service part...

Indian auto export numbers have been growing higher since the decade.
But the prices of automobile have increased in India since the last 10 years.
Excise duty has been increased + The inflation + the local taxes.

You have to learn number of things newbie.

Economy of scale reduces price and forces innovation thus benefiting the end customer.

The export of polished diamonds from India makes India the place where one can buy diamonds real cheap.

After laying the emphasis on Export factor, you changed the track to GST.

This is what I said in terms of taxes in the previous post = Its not export factor, it is taxes + inflation.

Excise duty has been increased + The inflation + the local taxes.

Exports provides economy of scale that reduces cost of production and individual unit. Its basic economics. How many times should I repeat it before you get it ?

Via dubai Pakistan Import lots of Indian Goods

There are many but not lots of - in reality, I experienced most of things from China.
There are opportunities to improve trade between India and Pakistan many folds depending firstly on both governments will and secondly a competitive price/quality.

.
We should be focusing more on markets like the GCC where quality matters anyway.
We've grown in those markets.
South Asian and even American markets will keep fluctuating due to demand for low priced tea.
African production is unpredictable, so maybe tomorrow you'll see Indian tea flooding Pak market. Then you'll see a 50% loss the next day.
Can't count on these things.

Another factor is that Kenyans don't drink tea unlike India and China. Now they're trying to make the locals drink tea in order to raise the price. So their competitiveness in markets like Pak won't last long.

Kenya to encourage local tea consumption amid global oversupply

by Ronald Njoroge

NAIROBI, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Kenya plans to expand local tea consumption due to global oversupply of the commodity that is pushing down prices, officials said on Friday.

The Interim Head of Tea Directorate at the Agriculture Food Authority (AFA) Samuel Ogola told a media briefing that a current oversupply of tea at the international market is affecting farmers' earnings.

"Out of the annual production of 450 million kgs of tea, only 30 million is consumed locally. Our strategy is expand it, so that Kenyan tea farmers can be cushioned from the global glut of tea," Ogola said during the Tea Packers Symposium.

The tea directorate plans to increase the share of local consumption from the current 6.6 percent to 15 percent in the next five years.

The strategy to expand domestic consumption includes aggressive marketing of the beverage to the rapidly growing youth population.

Government data indicates that Kenya's per capita tea consumption stands at 0.5 kgs compared to the global average of 1 kg per person per year.

Ogola said that Kenya's tea consumption can rise to 0.75 kg per capita in the next three years through intensive brand promotion by the local tea packers as well as intense sales by factories through factory door sales.

Kenya is the third top tea producer in the world after China and India.

"However both Asian nations consume the bulk of their tea locally as compared to Kenya which exports most of its produce," Ogola said.
