India joins elite missile tech club today

Yeah, because there was NO threat to us with india joining MTCR

You are confusing NSG and MTCR.

MTCR is a joke. Nobody cares much about it. NSG is the real deal--where Pakistan yet again trounced india's arse and blocked its entry throughout our allies:agree:

Yeah that's why China cannot export you any ASHM or Anti -ship missile above range of 300Km or 500Kg.

NSG member ship consists of some non relevant members who don't posses any experience in Nuclear field such as Brazil , new Zealand many small countries who are non relevant in Nuclear technology shows how elite this group is

There much more sophisticated nuclear group in world

Like Australian group and Wassenaar arrangement of which India already applied member ship. And will get entry by US backing

As for NSG we have a waiver from it back in 2008

Many countries already started exporting uranium and setup advanced Nuclear reacters india .

Russia,France,Canada,US,Australia you name it

.
they will never join it they have missile market and they export it . why should they join and self ban ?

n turn, Hu Xiaodi, the Chinese ambassador for disarmament affairs, sent a formal letter in 2004 to MTCR indicating that China was ready to positively consider applying for joining the regime. Several rounds of MTCR-China joint dialogues were convened to discuss the prospects of China’s membership. However, a number of MTCR member states, most notably the United States, have blocked China’s entry into the suppliers’ regime. The hesitation of some member states to admit China to the MTCR stems from the continued anxiety about China’s unwillingness or inability to fully implement and enforce the national export control laws.

MTCR is a JOKE ?? My friend carefull with the words. China did apply for MTCR membership in 2004 and still not got the Membership. Know better before you comment on topic please.

NEW DELHI: Fact 1: India isn't a member of the elite 48-nation Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), but arch-rival China is. Fact 2: India is a member of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR ), but arch-rival China isn't. Fact 3: Both countries want what they don't have.

And therein lies a tale.

China desperately wants into the MTCR and it very likely opposed India's NSG bid for that reason - a quid pro quo. "Allow us into the MTCR and we will not oppose India's entry into the NSG", might well have been what China was whispering into ears that mattered.

China's proliferation record

Consider that in 2004, China applied for MTCR membership but was denied it because members considered its non-proliferation record dodgy.

"They're not there yet", a US government official told Arms Control Today (ACT) in October, 2004, about China's eligibility. (Arms Control Today is a publication of the US-based non-partisan organization Arms Control Association.)

MTCR members were concerned that Chinese entities continued to provide sensitive technologies to countries developing ballistic missiles, such as North Korea, the publication said. And since the MTCR aims to limit the spread of ballistic missiles and other unmanned delivery systems - that could be used for chemical, biological, and nuclear attacks - selling to North Korea is a definite no-no.

Weeks before the October 2004 meeting, the US imposed proliferation sanctions on eight Chinese companies, ACT reported. "One of those, Xinshidai, was specifically accused of missile proliferation. The others, two of which the Bush administration previously penalized for missile proliferation, were punished for unspecified deals with Iran..." ACT reported.

China in the NSG

Interestingly, that very year, in May 2004, China gained membership to the NSG, despite the opposition by several US lawmakers - both Republicans and Democrats - who were overruled by US President George W Bush. One Republican lawmaker called China one of the world's "principal sinners" when it comes to proliferation, and a Democrat said he had a "deep distrust" of China.

In retrospect, it appears that the refusal to give China MTCR membership was an attempt to set the nuclear balance right, what with China having gained NSG membership earlier that year.

I think China will never allow to become a member of NSG for obvious reason, fear of competition. I think its time for the world to come out with somethin! Mexico supported by others called for another NSG meet to discuss India's entry and China opposes to that as well. What a insecurity! lol China will never be able to become part of MTCR. Thanks to widespread proliferation to Pakistan and NK.

Pakistan was no where in the scene.

It was a competition between India and China. China itself tried to become MTCR member in 2004 and failed so they are trying trick to get into MTCR. There is another meeting of NSG specially called for entry of India this year. Lets look forward to that. Else we will break NSG and let China to be the only member. lol

It seems like Pakistanis do not know:

China tried to become MTCR member and failed. Now in NSG they are isolated.

no sir its rather other way around as with MTCR we can now get any missile with more than 300 Km range and that can carry a warhead with mass weight more than 500Kg and any type of latest weapon in lay man terms now we can buy any kind and even stealthy cruise or ballistic missile of medium ranged land based or air or sub launched cruise or ballistic missiles from any western nation like USA , UK , Fance or israel and now can increase or de classify the actual range of say bhramos and export it also to any MTCR member state

while apart from export permit we have NSG waiver to buy and use any kind of nuclear tech and use it for our own use and that means buying latest civil nuclear tech and fuel for it which we are already doing with Russia, USA , France , Germany, Japan , Canada , Israel australia and kazakistan(last two nations for buying nuclear fuel)

and with china going against india in NSG it has now given us moral permission to go against any such chinese move on any such world forum but since china is a UNSC member it might not have any real effect but what about you :azn:

now we (along with our allies )will oppose any waiver to pakistan on every world forum get ready for it and good luck :D

India is behaving like that social-climber tramp who is desperate to climb up the social ladder one way or the other
in that process the tramp ends up getting used and abused ;)

Getting MTCR member like used? Than what you call using Pakistan's land by NATO for War on Terror? Grow up kid. We will get into NSG sooner or later. China will be out if they dont change. :D

well even if its like that we still are moving up the ladder and getting the perks also no dought the existing ones on high table might use us for there own gains but inreturn we are also getting the best of what the world has to offer and its better to move ahead even facing prejudice and abuse than sitting in the same old dirt pit and crying over petty things and hurling abuses and sulking to those who have moved up the ladder got it :sarcastic:

Here lies the rub.

Posters from Pakistan cannot seem to tell the difference between progress & social climbing through aid and / or largess from another nation .

Neither can you tell the difference between a tramp nation ( which international sense would apply to a nation that sells / loans itself & its territory to others in return for money ) & a nation that makes others come & put THEIR money to create jobs & share technology because it HAS the money to pay.

Good luck

. .
at international level you are behaving like priyanka chopra at personal level ... a very desperate climbing attempt

I don't need to elaborate the folly of trying to get in a club just for the thappa
man you look angry why so :azn:

but we will get the best UAVs , UCAVs and surface to surface and air to surface and surface to air or sub launched range of missiles now which we could never had got with MTCR membership and even china cant do anything about it now tell me in order to counter these new capabilities of india who will have to burn a hole in its already very thin pocket :azn:

and its not jsut a thappa but a license or say gun license :sarcastic:

Even after the humiliation, Indians still think they run the show.

As for the big achievement.

Because the regime is voluntary and the decision to export is the sole responsibility of each member, the MTCR has no penalties for transfers of controlled items. However, U.S. law mandates that Washington sanction entities-individuals, companies, or governments (whether they are MTCR members or not)-exporting MTCR-controlled items to certain countries identified as proliferators or potential threats to U.S. security. Sanctions may also be levied if the United States judges the transfer contrary to the MTCR. Typically, Washington prohibits the charged entity from signing contracts, receiving aid, or buying arms from the U.S. government for a period of two years. Sometimes the penalties can be imposed for longer lengths of time or extended to commercial imports and exports as well.
