India, Iran cradles of great civilizations: Iranian envoy

It is incorrect to say the number zero was invented in "India" when in fact it was invented in the Indus (modern day Pakistan). Records show Brahmagupta born in Multan founded zero.

According to wikip its Bhinmal in Rajasthan. Can u provide sources for Multan?

The number zero and the Indian numeric system were not invented in the boundaries of modern India.

The Arabs did have intellectuals of note (al-Khwarizmi)
Well nobody knows where Decimal system were discovered it was Gandhara or Magadha or Vangadesham . But Zero was definately discovered in India. Also Panini wrote grammar of Sanskrit, he was born in Charsadda and we study the same grammar rules of Panini during Sanskrit classes in our school and his home Gandhara has forgotten him completely.

Who cares if Brahmagupta was born in Multan, Panini born in Charsadda or Great Kanishka had capital in Purushpur(Peshawar) etc. We Indian think pre-1947 culture of subcontinent is same because in ancient time all were speaking same Sanskrit language and following same culture. We Still study Sanskrit language in our Schools and Grammar rules written by Panini. Infact Pakistan has forgotten all of them because they think they had no civilization before Muhammad Bin Qasim came to subcontinent.

multan is not 5000 years old.....oldest cities of indus valley civilization are only 4000 years old there influence decreased in the later half on indus valley civ so multan couldn't be possibly one of them....now i see from where pakistanis learn their distorted history...

Multan is one of the oldest cities in the Asian subcontinent. According to Hindu legends, it was the capital of the Trigarta Kingdom at the time of the Mahabharata war, ruled by the Katoch Dynasty. Multan has had various names over the years. According to Hindu mythology, it was originally called Kashtpur (Kashyapapura) after a Hindu sage named Kashyapa, which is also the Gotra used by the Katoch dynasty. Other names were Hanspur (Hamsapura), Bagpur (Vegapura), Sanb or Sanahpur (Sambapura). Its current name is derived from the Sanskrit name Mulasthana named after a sun temple. Multan has frequently been a site of conflict due to its location on a major invasion route between South Asia and Central Asia. It is believed to have been visited by Alexander the Great's army. In the mid-5th century, the city was attacked by a group of Huna Hephthalite nomads led by Toramana.

Multan was conquered along with Sindh by Muhammad bin Qasim, from the local ruler Chach of Alor. Following bin Qasim's conquest, the city was securely under Muslim rule, although it was in effect an independent state and most of the subjects were non-Muslims
