India will continue to engage China in order to obtain support for its inclusion in the Nuclear Suppliers Group, External Affairs of India, Sushma Swaraj said in the Parliament.


NEW DELHI (Sputnik)- "If someone does not agree to something once, it doesn't mean that he will never agree to it forever. We are continuing in our efforts to engage China on this issue," External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said in Parliament.


Sushma Swaraj was speaking in the Lower House of Parliament, Lok Sabha, in response to queries from opposition party members on the status of India's bid for membership of the 48-member Nuclear Suppliers Group.

The External Affairs Minister refuted the accusation of the opposition parties that India mishandled its bid for membership in the the Nuclear Suppliers Group.

At the Nuclear Suppliers Group Plenary meeting in June, China led a block of nations that opposed India's membership bid since India has not signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

We were an independent country in 1945 while India was still a part of Britain, is the only reason we got the UNSC seat.

And as an independent country we fought in WW2, whereas India was still a part of Britain back then.

India didn't exist back in those days so there was no question of India getting a seat in the first place. Unless you wanted Britain to have 2 seats.

India can sit on America's lap all they want, that's their own business. Not exactly new either, India was calling America for backup when they launched their Forward Policy against China in 1962. Didn't work back then, won't work now.

India ,even if way lesser than China in economy ,still managed a diplomatic feat in Seoul where 44 nation supported us and only 4 supported so called emerging superpower.And 4 of them wont stay in that opinion when US began their game
