India asked to stop work on Kishanganga and Ratle projects

. . .
Build dams rather than whining uselessly. India isnt going to stop and they have a right to their fair usage of water. If they stop ours than yes we have a problem that could lead to a potential conflict but why the hell are we not building dams. This is on NS and previously Zardari government.

.
we are ok with 50 50 share. but would you give our 50 share in the other 3 rivers given to india under IWT?
And you should have decided it when you signed it in first place. You would lose case every where after breaking the treaty and remember World bank is 193 countries.
and remember water is coming from china who would then do the same with moral justification as india would have already done that.

First go and read IWT carefully . problem is even your experts are confused.. they don"t know whats written in treaty, world bank is just the broker in treaty not a guarantor.Read below .

Some clarifications regarding Indus water treaty.

The Flow in northern 3 rivers allotted to Pakistan is a lot higher than than southern 3 rivers allotted to India

Only 2 of the 6 Indus rivers originate in China, rest 4 originate in India.

As of Now Pakistan is entitled to receive some 79% waters from Indus water system.
But receives 88% of Indus waters and wastes nearly all of it.

As of now India only able to utilize 12% of Indus waters.

Were treaty be renegotiated on the 50 -50 water sharing of all 6 rivers or 50 -50 water sharing of 4 rivers originating in India and 33% waters sharing each for China - India - Pakistan, rest 2, that would be an equitable solution.

It was Nehru's naivety or decency, that he signed such a generous treaty, without think about future population growth in India.

Pakistan makes a lot of noise Indus waters, but when it takes matter to court, it does not have a legal leg to stand on and has lost nearly all the arbitration on Indus treaty.

India would not agree for a world bank arbitrage.

★ Actually India would be more than happy if both the eastern and western rivers are divided 50-50 between India and Pakistan. Currently, Pakistan has been gifted 81% of the combined water of these six rivers.. To say that India got 3 rivers and Pakistan got 3 is hugely misleading because the eastern rivers are much much smaller than the western ones.. The Indus alone is twice larger than Ravi, Satluj and Beas combined..

★ China can't do diddly-squat on Indus.. Although the Indus originates in China, it is no more than a shallow stream by the time it enters India. Her catchment area is almost completely in Indian and Pakistani areas.

★ And BTW, let's just for the sake of argument assume that China successfully dams the Indus, who do you think would suffer? India or Pakistan? :D In India, the Indus flows only through Ladakh which is a little more than a cold barren high-altitude desert. In Pakistan, on the other hand, Indus flows through Punjab and Sindh... you do the maths... :-)

This post should be copied and pasted in all those IWT threads that keeps popping up on PDF like wild grass.. Kudos!

We mean it.
Then you clearly are too young to own nuclear weapons... Its not a weapon you should threaten to use if your neighbour builds a dam you dont like. Its actually quite scary how eagerly you seem to want to see nuclear winter.
If Pakistan uses nuclear weapons on India, you would too be wiped from earth.

.
If these projects don't violate the IWT, we Pakistani's shouldn't waste our time worrying. There's already enough dams on the western rivers already in India.

However, if India decides to play games and hold our water or practice Hydro-warfare and release water in bursts to induce flooding, they may get a stronger response

Why should it be 50/50?

93% of the Indus River flows through Pakistan, 5% through India, and 2% through China. What ever percentage flows through each country is what the percentage of access each country should have to the water.

India should stop being greedy and trying to force Pakistan into a war.

lol, remember India has more economic power then combine more then 150+ countries..... Water is stopped by China only belong to the rives which is pak, where will china take those stop water???

India stop those 5% and you take rest of 93 % by yourself.

Regarded logic ,

that means India must get 99% of all the rivers that originate from Nepal and Bhutan.
and Bangladesh should get only 5% of all the rivers entering from ganga and Brahmaputra.

and India must get 40% of Tibet river and Bangladesh gets 10%, ehich

contrary to getting :

"The river's mean discharge is 25.8 cubic metres per second (cumecs), less than 0.15 per cent of the Brahmaputra's mean discharge when it enters India "
