What's new

India and US may co-develop basic trainer for IAF under DTTI

US are smart ,projects like Textron Scorpion get`s new lease of life soon it will be offered ,Yank`s sure know how to do business.

I think from now onward,Uncle SAM will be Co-Developing every thing for India to materialize "Make in INDIA" Dream!!!:usflag::p::p::p:

Yeah it seems they want a piece of everything. It would be even better if they offer us to co develop something state of art like a MBT, a sixth generation fighter etc. Just saying. :coffee:

Keep Dreaming!!!
They want to Co-Develop..bcoz U r not able to Develop it.....N also Uncle Sam will make some $$$$$ from bharties.....

Yeah ...you would want to co-develop MBTs and Fighters with USA....bcoz of the same reason....."U cant develop it on Your OWN" :usflag::usflag::p::p::p:

With $$$$ in mind, USA or any other country wont offer their best tech to us. Thats the reality. I was just stating a fanboy wishlist. By the way, about Co developing Tank & sixth gen fighters, only reason I want to co-develop with US coz they have the best tech to offer. I wont bring in Arjun, Tejas to the frame because they are not upto the mark yet but we can develop everything inhouse whether its an MBT, a fighter, a nuclear Submarine or an aircraft carrier indigeniously. Thats a fact. :close_tema:

No one is saying you can't.....But the question is will the final product be ever ready????I mean in 2-3 decades or so??? And the quality level of that product is in question here.... You , yourself admitted that LCA and Arjun are not upto the mark...!!!

DTTI Indian dreams:

1. Carrier tech
2. 160 kN Turbofan
3. Missile defense ToT

ToT this... ToT that........

DTTI Reality:

Turboprop engine with 10 trillion strings attached! :D

The scale might be smaller, but I do think there is a potential for building a good working relationship with concurrent engineering capitalizing on project management and ground up design framework between India and US. especially circumventing sensitive technologies...

Ideally I would have preffered a next gen- Rustom MALE and HALE versions to be the first project, but a turboprop may be a right step in the same direction.

Who said you this we need ToT of carrier tech and 160 kn turbofan? Are you in your dreams?

I'm not dreaming...... that was precisely the point, not to dream.......... you've to somehow cool-down 'media hype', so that it's not counterproductive to your longterm goals.......... you need to understand the American Psyche, they'll do what serves them best, they have a habit of not having allies - just 'time-slot' partners, and any tech that would give ANYONE an overwhelming advantage over another (even America's own enemy), they'll not let go of. So best not to want or wish anything like that..... case in point, ANY sort of Turbofan tech.......

You thinking India have such high demand for EMALS or 160 kn turbofan, that it demand ToT.

Only 1-2 EMALS require for 1 nuclear AC, we are not building 20 AC. Who in sane mind demand ToT for this?

just wait and see Modi's ratings sink! :D
Modi is doing fine job. Even in worst case scenario, by 2018 Indian economy will be rolling again, so 2019 elections are secure. I expect him, that he take some tough decisions, and start to give bitter pills to civilians, afterall winning 272 seats in Lok Sabha is not a cake walk.

And wont expect much from media that they talk sane. On the other note, India just buying EMALS from them, not ToT. If America refuse EMALS, then I expect they atleast give steam catapult for Indian nuclear carrier.

The only ToT, and co-op development I expect only in Javelin.

Javelin yes...... however, dumbed down version........

Regarding EMALS, that too, yes why not, however, they'll expect you to work out the 'power' problem..... same goes for steam catapult..........

Definitely, no country is that much idiot to transfer top notch tech.

Yes, but steam catapult is not going to be a problem. BARC working on 190 mW reactor that go critical by 2018.

I am not talking about 2-3 dacades but 2-3 years timeframe. Yeah I admit it that that lca & Arjun in not upto that mark till now. Arjun Mkii has shown a lots of promise but is bit heavier than expected, it also lacks a world beating AFSPDS round. LCA well we know the issues dont we. But with Increased Airframe length we hope a better AESA radar & EW suit will be integrated. But as a intercepter It is still a potent aircraft. But we have to keep improving to bring it up with worlds best.

Thank god, India has fall back option in 1300 T90M & 270 Mkis, 36 Rafales.
