An Indian TV reported that the Indian government has ordered the Air Force to remain on high alert. It may be recalled that the Indian Air Force has been put on high alert for the fist time in the past seven years.

India Air Force asked to stand on high alert - GEO.tv

So where exactly are we going with this one??

It's because of a Ariel terror threat alert , besides Force has only been put on PAD - for any sort of a strike it has to be on AAD level.

IAF on high alert, cancels leave of key personnel

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: Indian Air Force (IAF) has been put on the highest level of readiness since Operation Parakram in 2001.

The level of readiness has been raised to 'Passive Air Defence' (PAD). The high alert is in response to heightened perceptions of air attack on Indian positions.

All IAF aircraft have been armed with bombs and missiles and are ready to take off within minutes. Even the warships of the Western Naval Fleet are aggressively patrolling the Arabian Sea.

The alert has been sounded in view of intelligence reports of air strikes at Indian installations from across the border or an aerial attack by terrorists groups based in Pakistan.

However, the alert is still defensive in nature and intended to protect Indian targets.

Leave of all key personnel in the Western and South-Western Air Commands, which face Pakistan, has been cancelled.

Percentage of personnel allowed to go on leave, too, has been reduced from 30 per cent to 10 per cent.

However, there is still no mobilisation of troops on the border and Indian Army is not on the highest level of readiness.

Following the Mumbai terror attack, the defence chiefs had briefed defence Minister AK Antony about the steps being taking to beef up security at the border and to prevent a 9/11 type of terror attack involving aircrafts.

During Operation Parakram, IAF was on 'Active Air Defence”, which means aircrafts were primed to destroy enemy targets.

lol! Indians are over reacting. It's not like Terrorists are gonna get F-16 or F22 for attacking India.

Thats all part of propaganda tactics, they want to keep this topic hot, thats about it.

Do we have a choice ?

If IAF goes on high alert what do you expect us to do ?

X_man it is for defensive purpose against terrorist threat

Pakistan navy, airforce put on alert

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has put its naval forces on alert, according to a statement issued by an official Pakistan Navy spokesman on Wednesday.
Earlier, Dawn News reported that the navy spokesman said the action had been taken in response to movements of their Indian counterparts.
The channel added that Pakistan Airforce has also confirmed reports of increased vigilance but assured that such actions are a natural reaction of the activities on the other side of the border. However, the spokesman said people should not treat this as an alarm.
The armed forces are closely monitoring the movements of the Indian forces as they were put on alert following intelligence reports that warned of more attacks after the Mumbai carnage.
Earlier, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani also confirmed these reports in a press conference in Multan. Gilani said all the defence forces were ‘in state of preparedness’ and were ready to defend the nation at all times.

Agreed..

Actually sometimes its media as well( on both sides) that generates an unnecessary hype and sensation for their own interests…Because if we look at the forces, they are always ready and war prepared …That’s why they are there for…

Even during any usual peace time, Airforces on both sides are manning the ADAs( Air defence alerts) at various bases, Radar HQs are manned 24 hours, certain number of missiles are always armed, sector HQs are occupied round the clock on shift basis and so as every other sensor and system is operationally ready…ALWAYS…

By High Alert it sometimes mean at may be ADA is enhanced and there are more people now doing the same job that was previously done by far less people...Or the big boss will kick out the small boss and occupy that Big chair in head quarters and everyone else will start to panic around him to show their efficiencies and interestingly there also will be more number of individuals in HQ who will be working on the doctrine of LBDN (look busy do nothing….)..

I hope the peace prevails and the big bosses in high chairs on both sides keep their cool…

Boss, you are hilarious to an extent I:agree:with you. But not completely. This attack has gone too far. Things will take time to cool down.

I hope the peace prevails and the big bosses in high chairs on both sides keep their cool…
The coming days are going to be tricky. Keeping my fingers crossed.
