nobody can fund unlimited humanitarian aid unless there is some return on investment..the natural resources being mined by indian companies in hazardous enviornment will bring propserity to both the countries, more the funds generated, more the afgan govt gets stronger to figght the insurgents..there are no free lunches in this world!!

Lol, this is not true at all!

I'd lay the reason for the insurgency's longevity squarely at Pakistan's door. Providing safe havens across the border for their numbers and high-command meant the CI efforts were always bound to fail. And despite the US's best efforts (see drone strikes and cross-border JSOC raids) the terror infrastructure in Pakistan is very much intact today.
