On today's CCTV report our vice president says that Pakistan is China's ONLY all weather friend. I was almost shocked to hear such a strong statement from that channel by the nubmer two leader of China, That's China Central Televison, the mouthpiece of the Chinese government and our vice president mostly is a carefully worded guy. China is a country of her words, she made a pledge to help Pakistan out of the current trouble and she will definitely deliver it.

China and Pakistan are good friends, that's something everyone knows, but this is the first time that China admits that she doesn't have many true friends but one, that's the first time I heard a statement like this in my whole life time and I always closely follow Chinese politics and foreign affairs.

I understand the vice president is also a very powerful guy. Isnt he the one leading negotiations with the Trump administration?

Yes, that's him, also used to work as the mayor of my home city, Beijing. Later on worked as the head of all powerful Chinese Communist party disciplinary department and heavy handedly dealt with corrupted officials, over 1 million officials were investigated and punished accordingly. People say the person all Chinese officials of all levels fear the most is him.

"Wang qishan wants to talk to you" is becoming a set phrase in Chinese meaning you will be in big trouble.

@haidian

I don't think there was ever a doubt about the existence of such friendship between the two states. I am glad about the statement from Chinese Vice President but not at all surprised!
Yes , I know, but saying China has just one true friend is unprecedented indeed, Chinese government used to want to make people believe that China was liked by most countries , telling the public that China has just one true friend is a shocker and I m not the only person shocked in China.

No wonder IK meet with him one to one as well. Learning from his experience in curbing corruption.

For any friendship to flourish it has to be two way street of give and take. In our case China just gives gives gives and all Pakistan does is take. I hope there comes a time when Pakistan can stand on her own feet and does not require Chinese assistance for survival.

China changed her constitution for him.

"There is a rumor among China investors that recently retired corruption czar Wang Qishan will be Xi's new Veep. Wang had to retire because he was over the 68-year-old age limit. He is 69. Scrapping term limits means you scrap the age limit because there is no sense having an age limit if there is no term limit. Qishan can be brought on board and continue his anti-corruption push, helping Xi centralize power in Beijing, and weaken the provincial governments who have had a penchant for oversupply and shadow banking practices. These practices have been two negatives for China for at least a decade."

The guy has to feed his family some how. The last few days, they have been getting 3 full meal a day. Before that, was a hard time for champion Usmani

Instead of dealing with the topic on hand, this is what Imranistan resorts to. Typical Imranistan!!!

. . .
The sooner Imran Khan would realize that Infrastructure inclusive of a network of highways and motorways is instrumental in laying foundation of progress towards prosperity of a nation, the better it will be for Pakistan.

The sooner Imran realizes that
1. every thought that comes to his mind should not travel to his mouth, the better it will be for his political career and for Pakistan.
2. the matter of international affair, contracts and promises (CPEC etc) should not be included in his weekly talk to nation address. If you know there was corruption and kick back then take it out with Chinese officials. I know he loves blaming NS but soon he will face the reality when no Chinese company will invest in Pakistan without kickbacks.
3. captain of cricket team and captain of a country are two different animals.\

personally i think the general saved the collective arse of pakistanis after 9/11
Pray. Tell me why? And which Pakistani was involved in 9/11? Who were the 9/11 hijackers? Every one was Arab. Should you not have pointed your guns on Saudia?

I dare say his mouth has done better then Nawaz and Zardari. One got piggy back ride on back of Gen. Zia's shoulder and was installed in office. The other one used his peniss and got hitched to Bhutto. At least IK used his mouth for 22 years to get where he did.

Where was Bin laden during 9/11 ?
Who is Taliban's grand daddy ?
Who resisted American pressure in going after Bin laden after embassy bombings ?

Last of all where was Bin laden eventually found ?

Saudi royals are no angels. but they are not in the business of knocking heads with Uncle Sam

Imran Khan is currently on his first official visit to China after taking oath as Pakistan’s Prime Minister in August. The high profile visit was partially overshadowed by the Tehreek-e-Labbayk Pakistan protests across the country over the acquittal of Aasia Bibi from the Supreme Court in a blasphemy case.

The big news from Beijing is that Chinese government has promised to ‘provide necessary assistance to Pakistan … but more talks are needed‘. At the same time, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister told the media after PM’s meeting with his Chinese counterpart that there were no plans to ‘scale back the CPEC’.

However, the body language of the Pakistani premier in the footage released to the Chinese media officially was intriguing. It was an unfamiliar spectacle for a Pakistani Prime Minister looking weary.

But Naya Daur has received a piece of information that could well be the reason of PM’s fatigued outlook in what has traditionally been the most friendly capital for Pakistani PMs in the world.

According to well-placed sources within Chinese media, the Chinese officials gathered all the statements of Imran Khan and his senior cabinet members about the problems with China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and showed them to him in a high profile meeting.

The Pakistani PM was then asked to be careful about such statements in future and was also told to rein in his ministers on the subject.

In the official communique issued to the media after Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Yi especially mentioned that the officials on both sides should be careful about matters of significance, as reported by Chinese media.

Earlier, Imran was received at his arrival in China by the Chinese Transportation Minister – a move that was also taken as a snub by many back home.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistani cabinet members have repeatedly voiced their concerns about the contracts awarded to Chinese companies in the past. PM’s adviser on Commerce and Industries Abdul Razzak Dawood had also stated in an interview with Financial Times that ‘the previous government had done a bad job at negotiating with China on CPEC’. He went on to add that Chinese companies were getting all the tax breaks while Pakistan companies were disadvantaged. “I think we should put everything on hold for a year so we can get our act together,” he added. “Perhaps we can stretch CPEC out over another five years or so.”

CPEC is worth 62 billion dollars. It is China’s biggest investment in any country and is considered pivotal to its Belt and Road Initiative. Pakistani officials’ careless statements about some of the projects under CPEC have previously drawn attention of the Chinese officials and the recent developments also confirm that all isn’t well with the ‘all weather friend’ right now.

However, PM’s visit is expected to bridge the communication gap and with the assistance of a seasoned diplomat and politician Shah Mehmood Qureshi as his foreign minister, Imran Khan should certainly be able to address the concerns of the Chinese authorities regarding the future of CPEC.

Most undiplomatic if true.
This is most unfortunate that chinse ask him to tame his ministers about issuing statements about cpec.
These things can be communicated through diplimatic channels .
