Both IMF and Miftah were equally certain that fuel subsidies must go. Then suddenly Miftah took a U-turn to say that fuel subsidies will be retained. So either PDM was confident that allies would bail the economy or that US would arm twist IMF into relaxing capital restrictions for Pakistan. If it was the latter, then at least it indicates that the US is non partisan in Pakistani domestic politics
