Expected, China has gone through its industrial revolution and developed rapidly, India is where China was about 2 decades back and needs 15-20 years of 9-10% sustained growth with China plodding along at 4-5% just to catch up to where China is today.

Nothing to really celebrate in this news.

In 2040/5 India, China and the US are projected to be the big 3 economies in the world but no one is really sure in which order they will be, this is the real question, will the Indian tortoise where decisions take a absurd amount of time to be made catch up to the Chinese hare where liberty has been sacrificed for development? How will the Chinese people react with the slowing down of China? How will the more Westernised and liberal Chinese middle class behave, will they start demanding more freedoms? Will such a change in governance come about peacefully? Was the Hong Kong protest just the tip of the iceberg?

India will never surpass China. Chinese are just too smart for Indians for them to beat China at anything.

Indians talk a lot and do very little. Chinese talk little and do a lot. It's a cultural trait which Indians will never ever overcome.

Do you see any Indian doing what you are doing on this forum? Even the thread to show Indian infrastructure has humility built in the title -- "India Developing, but still a long way to go".

OTOH, pretty much every Chinese member on this forum shows the opposite trait of "talking less and doing more" just at the mere mention of the word India -- just like you did in this instance! I have even seen guys proclaiming that China as a nation has achieved everything there is to achieve while India has almost ZERO chance of ever progressing in a million years! As you said, it must be a cultural trait.

.
There have been a lot of countries outstripping China in GDP growth rates over the years
List of countries by real GDP growth rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I havent seen these countries are having orgasms over that beating China

And when the denomiator is becoming larger, the high % growth rate is harder to maintain

So what is the folking point of highlighting the growth rate of India to exceed that of China anyway time and again?

It is the absolute amount of the size of GDP, the disposable income, the GDP per capita, the prosperity index, the HDI index the FX reserve, the health of the currency. the GINI index, the social and welfare systems, the scientic, academic, sports, business .. achievements, the strength of defense, the innovation index ...all that matters

I agree with your message but the emoticon is trash. No Chinese man? Wtf?

what i mean length and bredth of projects..
exa.
Delhi mumbai Indstrial corridor project can be consider as horizontal project as its new dimetion to IR goods trafic which is dedicated to that only..

Bullet trai,, inceasr speed of train.. smal tweak in track to incease speed is can be call as vertical as they in same cateegory of passanager servvice but with more feature to improve performace..

so we need both decicated solution project as horizontal project and vertical project to improve existing system

sorry, we don't need to use such mba/corporate/it words... verticals, centers of excellence, leverage, core competency, ctc, bellwether, big data... such ridiculous language may have been created in usa but it finds its welcoming home in india... and the sensible americans themselves question and reject such language... ( Business Buzzword Bingo! ) and ( Bullshit Bingo [Random!] ).

let the idiots of coolie-valley bangalore or poona or gurgaon use this nonsense language... for the rest of humans, simple language is always better... and let's throw the mba types into the sea.

Corporate-speak is fking nonsense. I've learned to speak it fluently though, to survive.

I am not even in a corporate environment. I am in a PHD program and the managers of the instructors uses corporate speak during our staff meetings, which is complete bullsh!t. "Raising productivity" "managing student expectations" "ensuring student satisfaction"... lol...

oh, so soon...

beyond the sillyness of it all, corporate-speak is cruel because it is capitalism after all... you mention "raising productivity"... what is productivity in a academic/research environment?? :what:... and in indian corporate world, the world "salary" is nowadays "ctc" ( cost to company )... so essentially, the "cost" is the employee, a burden which the company must reluctantly pay... no wonder, india is "suicide capital of the world", more precisely it is bangalore city, india's "silicon valley", actually the coolie valley.

but i like making fun of those who use these words seriously. :D

Chinese buy into this corporate speak too. Its disgusting. The Americans still buy it actually, the movement against it is quite new.

I hate to say this but South Asians are generally less intelligent than East Asians. East Asia is a far more developed region than South Asia.

Both India and Pakistan are multi-ethnic entities that spend a large amount of resources keeping themselves together rather than focus on efficient economic development.

BD was only created in 1971 and is already on par with both India and Pakistan in HDI. It has already surpassed Pakistan and should surpass India by 2020 in HDI.

Sri Lanka is way higher than all the others and would even be more developed than China if it was not for the 25 year civil war that India fanned.

You see, most of South Asia's problems come from the creation of legal states but not actual nations like we have in East Asia.

Dude - China is a unitary state with more than 90% Han Chinese majority.

India is far far more likely to disintegrate than China.

yes, sad really for a society supposedly guided by the simplicity of socialism. :)

chinese must reject all that callous culture corporatization has brought... there should be a occupy for china... not the fake and regime-change occupy in hong kong but a really occupy.

The Americans still buy it actually, the movement against it is quite new.

true... if the americans elected a black president only because of his vague words "yes we can", it was because of them being brainwashed for decades by equally vague capitalist/corporate wordings.

the anti-corporate anti-capitalism movement there really increased during 2007 and is good now... hopefully wannabe-american societies learn from the sensible americans. :)

India will grow bigger than China because China is slowing down.

india will grow bigger in what?? more unnecessary consumer goods like cell phones and motorcycles?? people need money to keep buying those things and that comes from salaries in case of india.

you should look at the state of indian economy... the software/services industry here ( the main earner ) has crashed... india doesn't export much agricultural goods and is major importer of petrochemicals... doesn't produce export amount of coal, ores, gold etc.

Both India and Pakistan are multi-ethnic entities that spend a large amount of resources keeping themselves together rather focus on efficient economic development.

accepted.

more developed than china how?? china is a military super power and a political influence.

You see, most of South Asia's problems come from the creation of legal states but not actual nations like we have in East China.

i don't understand.

But i know that China can't grow as soon as it did before:coffee:

china must now focus on delivering every comfort and justice to each of its citizens.

In terms of GDP/capita. Of course China will have more technology than tiny Sri Lanka.

i don't understand.

Pakistan and India, unlike BD and Sri Lanka, have no dominant ethnicity to drive the rest of the country forward. Their, India more than Pakistan, primary focus is always on keeping the different ethnicities happy rather than on the fastest economic development.
