The Americans know this. Scratch the surface and there is no love lost on either side.

Lets call a spade a spade. The nukes were racist. Pure and simple dehumanizing of an enemy from a "lower" race who had dared to attack them. There are volumes written on the fire bombing of Germany as an equivalent, but the Americans would have never bombed the Germans. Because there are strong Germanic blood ties in the US. And till they were forced into the war, America continued to do roaring business with Germans.
