Doubt it. It's got 4 prop engines. Prop engines are the safest plus it's extremely unlikely for all 4 engines to fail at the same time.

Everything is possible... Having 4 or 2 doesn't make you 100% safer from failure/crash... Pilots is also in the loop... Weather is in it too and so on...

At least it's more "viable"/believable than France or Israel downing the plane who was nowhere near them, neither was a threat to them...

That plane was 35km away from the Syrian cost...

The coalition didnt need any excuse to strike Syria this time and perhaps will not need any excuse later on.

Downing of the plane whether the reason is aircraft failure, israeli aircraft or friendly fire by Syrian air defense one thing is for sure these surprise attacks put Russian personnel at a high risk and an ongoing security issue that had to be addressed much before like updating Syrian air defense systems to deter similar attacks. Even Syria is not seen as a country by Russia that has to be protected considering confrontation risks or similar, disregard of israeli-usa attacks on the security of Russian personnel needs further defensive measures.
