ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday reserved its verdict on a petition seeking to place the names of Sharif family members on the Exit Control List (ECL), ARY News reported.
The petition has been filed by two members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the IHC a week after former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s ouster in the Panama Papers case.
Gulbaz Mushtaq and Usman Saeed Basra have filed a petition before the high court with a stance that Sharif family members may flee from the country to avoid further investigation against them in line with the Supreme Court’s orders of filing references against them in its Panamagate verdict.
The petitioners have pleaded to the court to direct the interior ministry to place the names of Sharif family members including Nawaz Sharif, his three children, son-in-law and the finance minister Ishaq Dar on a no-fly list.
Expressing their apprehensions, the petitioners have contended that the trial against Sharif family is imperative so that the Panama case could reach to its logical conclusion.
A five member bench of the High Court headed by Justice Amir Farooq is likely to announce the decision on hearing of the petition today.
Both petitioners are lawyers and have served the PTI in different capacities.
