IAF to Induct First DRDO EMB-145I AEW&CS by June

. .
That's what I meant:
I think that the handover is still in July, the induction is in September. This seems to be the normal procedure. The reporter is confusing the two.
By March testing will be over.

The article said:

In the words of a senior officer associated with the programme, and one who will be part of 4-6 month user evaluation trials aimed for April

So depending on how reliable the source is, the induction can obviously take place only after these final trials are over and if now additional changes need to be made.

The same article says

The team is looking to wrap up development flight & systems trials by the end of March
So the timeline is
March : Development trials end
April: 4-6 months user trials
September: Induction into IAF (year end)

Development flight! That is DRDO's part of tests to integrate the radar, but has nothing to do with induction into IAF, which requires the additional trial series before it can be put into IAF service and all this was suppose to be done by last year, so lets see if they can get it done till next month.

I am just summarizing the article. March isn't too far. Let's see.

That's what I meant:
Meh though really. User trails start in April, induction of the first aircraft by September and the 2nd one by the end of 2015, the third one in early 2016 isn't bad at all.

That's 2 years delays to induct all 3, from what was planed earlier as shown in post #16.

The IAF officer quoted above says, "These are impressive timelines. Our team has been satisfied with the performance. There are still some ends to tie up in the process of matching requirements with performance, but all major requirements have been demonstrated, including intercept control, battle management, Electronic Support Measure (ESM) and Communication Support Measure (CSM), data handling and the crucial SATCOM links. This could be one of the most trouble-free developments we have had so far."

DRDO awaits further orders for AEW&C aircraft
Brazilian-Embraer.jpg

DRDO developed Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) system mounted on Brazilian Embraer EMB-145I aircraft will be handed over to IAF this June and Second aircraft in September this year. Both aircrafts have undergone extensive trails in various forward airbases of India air force, DRDO now wants IAF to explore further option to purchase more aircrafts.

DRDO and IAF in principal have approval to purchase additional 5 aircrafts over 3 already contracted with Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer while third aircraft will be delivered to DRDO by July and according to sources close to idrw.org third aircraft might be used by DRDO as Testbed to test bigger AWACS radar components for “AWACS India” programme and might remain engineering prototype with them .

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has approached the Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS), a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) lab, for the joint development of AEW&C system for exporting it to South American countries. DRDO already had exhibited the plane during an air show in Bahrain last year, which generated few inquiries from Asian countries.

DRDO already has been awarded the contract to develop larger full-blown futuristic AWACS (airborne warning and control system) program under “AWACS India” program. Airbus Defence & Space was only bidder which offered Airbus A330 fitted with a radome which might further delay the Project.

. . . .
+ 6 AWACS india

Not really, since DRDO proposes AWACS India instead of more EMB145I's, while IAF wants 10 smaller AWACS. They get 2 now and the minute more of them will be ordered, it lowers the chances of AWACS India. Not to mention that the single vendor situation now puts another hurdle to the development, which can get very expensive now, since we have no leverage to reduce costs.
