Indian Air Force helicopter fired at by suspected Naxals in Chhattisgarh, one injured | NDTV.com

Raipur: Suspected Naxals shot at an Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter injuring a security man in the Maoist hotbed of Dantewada in Chhattisgarh.

According to preliminary reports, the helicopter was on a mission to airlift a few Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers when it was fired upon.

"The helicopter has been force landed at Timberwara in Sukma district. One IAF man has been hit and the chopper has been cordoned off," a senior security official said.

The helicopter had flown from the state capital and it had gone off the radar for sometime, they said.

. . . .
IAF has been prohibited from firing on the Maoists unless being fired upon. Now I think they have a valid excuse to start the hunt from the air too.

Armed helos are not being used in any anti-naxal ops. BTW, this ain't the first time IAF helos came under
fire while flying at low altitude,
