Over a decade ago a friend filed papers to contest for Tamil Nadu legislative assembly. The filing was rejected and was not allowed to contest.

Reason. My friend refused to sign a statement agreeing to uphold the unity and territorial integrity of India.

My friend would not sign such a statement because the very purpose of contesting was to show the world that there is major support for Tamil Nadu independence.

Canada is a democracy. The party that wants independence for Quebec was allowed to contest election. India is not a democracy because parties and people who want independence for a state are not allowed to contest elections.

Tamils are more Indian than most ...Their only battle is probably economic superiority over Maharashtra , the richest state as far as GDP is concerned ...Tamil nadu is the second richest state in India BTW

No, my friend would have receive 90% vote. Since the Hindian government did not allow to contest, we would b=never know.
Actually Hindian government knows Tamil nationalists would win every seat in TN, and that is why would not allow them to contest election. We challenge India to allow us to contest.
