there was something similar done by Pakistan army. there is a long lost video where a Pakistani general is telling his men that they are the real Muslims NOT Taliban and they should jihad against them and destroy them.
it also had a poem by a soldier who dismissed Taliban and their terror and vowed to defeat them and their terror.


the guy in the vide is doing more or less the same thing. showing what he holds dear and showing that he is better in terms of his conviction, his faith and his ability to defeat these terrorists

you know that answering such question is impossible?
easy way is check out the general public mood, perceptions, inclination and way of thinking
find out the %age of military personal to civil population based on the demographics.
and then extrapolate the results and get your answer.
do a minima and maxima check and on the result and on the minima will be people like Khalid Khawaja who was ex-PAF officer (someone not physically involved in terrorism but sympathised and apologised for them) and on the maxima will be people like Adnan Rashid or those who got killed by CIWS on board a PN vassel during their botched attack.

the other type of guys I quoted (relevant to this post, who are fighting Taliban) are also many.
I know few personally as well.

Yes, that is true. However, unlike in Pakistan, the Generals here merely provide input to policy, they do not set it. That is a key difference.

The NRA ie the moutpeice of the gun manufactuers have been very succesful in framing ability to source firearms as a foundation of freedom and now as a protection against radical Islam.

The problem being, I don't know what terrorist attacks the 200+ million firearms in America have managed to stop- 9/11? Boston? Times Square? in fact, there is some legitimacy in claiming that free accsess to such weapons has lead to many radical Islam terrorist attacks in America- Fort Hood and recently San Bernardino. And if you count all the mass shootings are terrorism (as I do) then they have further enabled hundreds of terror attacks in the US.


P.S I have a lot of respect for Marcus Lutteral but he also has some serious questions of his credibility hanging over him.

I think there is a big difference between the two examples. While the posted add is trying to capitalize on the anti-muslim hysteria created by the western media to counter the same media's anti-gun drive, the Pakistani general was trying to curb if any sympathies on account of "advertised religion of TTP", and making it clear that the real islam is not the one propagated by TTP which is anti-women (Islam teaches respect), anti-education (Islam emphasises importance of education), fear and suppression (Islam teaches freedom and liberty).

The add is financed by the gun-industry to protect their commercial interests while spreading more hate towards muslims where as General's views were to defend the Nation from the "financially motivated and financed ignorant a** holes" by the nation's enemy.
