I Love Pakistan - Donald Trump

I would like to see the full video and in what context he said it because there are numerous times he has called us a terrorist state and favored India. I don't see much hope. If he is president he will lead CIA to Leon Panetta days. Blame is going to be a state policy and support for India doctrine. Pakistan will stick to China.

It doesn't matter whoever become the PM, but the foreign policy always remain the same. Or not? Time will tell. :D

There is no love or hate in geopolitics. We are going to shape the regional politics, with or without Trump. Pakistan has already played its pieces, too late to revert. Trump either joins the bandwagon or burns out his years in office trying to play a headless king.

I am Afraid there is absolutely nothing that we can offer US, not anymore. In few years time the whole good 200mn market will be captured by China and the inherent hate for US will only increase with dwindling f-16s. Other than very limited cooperation there is nothing strategic out there at least for next 4 years with TRUMP being on Chair

AFAIK, America had a sudden need to work closely with Pakistan because of ISAF in Afghanistan. Now that the operation is winding down, what is Pakistan's play?

It always seemed to me that it is a Catch 22 for Pakistan. If a stable (non-Taliban) government is established in Kabul, then the US was in any case going to lose interest in cooperating with Pakistan. Gratitude rarely lasts in international relations. OTOH, American withdrawal in face of the realization that the Taliban cannot be beaten will again result in the same situation.

In any case, why doesn't the Pakistan government act against the Haqqani network? At least the Americans will not be p*ssed off about that?

Why should it ?

What purpose does the HN serve apart from creating trouble? Their manpower estimates range from 4,000-15,000. That's enough to wreak havoc on NATO, but apart from destabilizing Afghanistan and Pakistan's border region, what will that achieve?

Trump either joins the bandwagon or burns out his years in office trying to play a headless king.

I don't think that any American President comes to power hoping to enjoy the leftovers from a ragtag alliance between Pakistan, China and whoever else you think is involved in this new Great Game.

For a superior martial race and atomic power, Pakistanis are betraying an unusual amout of anxiety about every word spoken by Trump. I wonder why?

What an honor for us Pakistanies to be even mentioned by a citizen of a super power. Citizens of such a wealthy and powerful utopia shouldn't pay attention to us lowly beings.
By obsessing over Trump we were only trying to follow in the footsteps of the citizens of rising shining India.

Forgive us oh chosen one.

Indians are known as crafty Baniyas. All they try to do is gain some mileage out of the fights between other great powers. Pakistan, being a proud nation and great power itself, would surely not have the same lowly, nefarious agenda as that of India?

On a serious note, Trump's election did not even register on the news cycle here. We are all busy gossiping about Modi's decision to withdraw 500 and 1000 rupee notes from circulation.

Ok, lets get down to schematics first shall we ?

Going back when it all started, during musharraf tenure in Pakistan, there was countless times when US asked Pakistan to bring these people to table so that a resolution could be made. Even with Pakistan's own effort it pushed its luck too far only to realise that as soon as meeting was set up, American as usual would bomb one of key commander or personnel, resulting in derailment of peace process. And we had to face the brunt every single time. It shows how non-comitted theyre.

Secondly for Haqqani., NATO is another foreign invader that they will fight to death to protect their honour. These guys are willing to lay down their lives to protect their land from foreign invaders and to protect their honour that is in their tradition from centuries. You cannot, I repeat you cannot win against these people. Americas half-hearted engagement has costed them so much in terms of life, materiel and money. The best way to engage anyone is through dialogue and actually assisting local people in developing the state. American are seen as invaders, that would kill civilians for fun and the term it as collateral damage

OK. I think recent history will support your claim that the American attempt at half-hearted intervention has failed. The only intervention that can work is bombing everything to the groud, which would defeat the very purpose of going there.

So dialogue is the way. But what will be the result of this dialogue? If left to Taliban/Haqqanis, Darul Uloom Haqqania will set the agenda for all of Afghanistan. How will that be acceptable to anyone apart from alumni of that University?

I know that when the Taliban were in power, things were quiet in FATA/KPK/Balochistan. But I don't think it was as simple as that. Giving a free hand to these crazies meant that the entire infrastructure which they could effortlessly put into motion once Musharraf decided to co-operate with ISAF was already in place. Do you really want to buy peace by allowing these guys to keep their seminaries/Jihad factories open?

(I can't post links yet...replace the blank with a dot)

There's many more such examples so spare us the nonsense of how Pakistanies are obssessed with him.
