SII of India didn't develop Astrozeneca. It "partnered up" to produce Astrozeneca.
That would be like China claiming credit for Apple when all it partnered up to produce Apple products. It's such misplaced and pointless pride but Indians want it because Indians like the talk part and presenting like pride and high tech capability when it is failing to.
The only tech field it is somewhat competent in is pharmaceuticals and everyone in the know on this understands it is simply nations producing their developed drugs in India to mass produce. There is so little actual development and new products researched and developed in Indian pharmaceutical industry ( in comparison to other giants in Pharma like western nations and even China ). Volkswagen "partnered up" with China to make cars back in 1970s. This doesn't mean China had the tech level of VW in the 1970s just because it partnered up to make their cars.
No more does SII have the tech level of any major developer of drugs and vaccines than the Chinese factory making VW cars has for car making tech. A partnered producer does not equal the tech tree access or mastering.
India's only bright spark in pharma is almost entirely in the producing for the actual developers and makers of drugs. Many also produce in other nations, A German drug company has manufacturing in India and could also have manufacturing of the drug in multiple other nations but Indian trolls will simply claim they have mastery of that tech.
It can often be in that form => produce, copy, copy and understand, copy and iterate, innovate. But of course not necessarily. For example some Japanese electronics went from produce and copy to innovate or didn't even need the first few steps.
India has no real own tech except in software. Software is an area India has its own total supply chain and mastery over because it is low barrier of entry as well. Many nations have software tech sector. Pharma isn't really one of those.
