The Rohingya insurgency started in 1940's and still continuing, it was started not because of any Burmese oppression, but because Rohingyas wanted to break away from Myanmar to become an Islamic state and part of Purba Pakistan, and these Rohingyas are not unarmed, they have their own armed militia force...kind of private army.

Coming to bangladeshi hypocrisy, your beloved China supplies arms to Myanmar, Chinese themselves treat a similar Islamic insurgency in Uighur brutally, and bangladesh itself treated insurgency brutally in CHT, in fact bangladesh treat all its minorities brutally for no reason other than that they are non-Muslims. Very recent mass brutality against the Santhals and Bengali Hindus in bangladesh is one example.

If your story is true, then President Ayub Khan of then Pakistan would have known it when PA forced the Burmese to accept the border near the sea at the center of Naaf Dariya in 1962. Before this, by British administrative policy the entire Naaf Dariya up to the north bank was under the British Burma/Union of Burma. The insurgency hype were created to justify denial of rights for the Rohingya. Maungdaw and Budhiang were always Rohingya inhabited area which a lot of Burmese (mostly unaware and fed by rakhine propaganda) and Indians are unaware. When people talk about Rohingya, they get into the impression that Rohingya came from outside but infact they remained within their own territory in Rakhine.

East Pakistan defence was weak. But, was it difficult to temporarily strengthen the east by bring a division of PA troops, specially the Bengal Regiment? I understand your point, but there was nothing like an effort to join east Pakistan in 1947. However, I agree that some of the Rohingyas may have been dreaming it.
